This year I “released” a project I worked on for a long time. By “released” I mean put on a Bandcamp page and paid CDBaby $80 to shove it into iTunes, etc. Well, I think we all know the ending to that story. Crickets. Nada. (btw, it’s a free release on Bandcamp.)
But I want to continue to get it out there as much as possible, just for people to hear, no $ involved. It’s a bit of a slow burner. 20 second previews might not cut it. So larger labels are probably not going to be interested at all. It’s not instant blaring attention-grabbing music. It’s kind of dark, pastoral, and mysterious, hopefully like some of my idols, Boards of Canada, Rhythm & Sound, etc.
I’m fine with finding just a tiny audience. I had a couple of releases back in the day on Hippocamp, but looks like they have hung it up. I just want to be on a quality little netlabel somewhere with like-minded artists. Anyways, does anyone know of some quality netlabels these days?
Thanks for any recommendations! I’m also looking for some good ones just to listen to and find other artists to collaborate with. Doesn’t have to be a 100% match for my sound, of course.
