good content! one2 mode ftw
FTW for sure
Great content actually
Good to see an active OT person pushing stuff like this out, this particular topic will be of great interest to me… ordered the OTMKII so just about to jump into the abyss!
Jumping into an oasis
Thank you! I am glad folks appreciate the Octatrack as much as I do
Yeah, this is great. I never thought about trig one2. I always just set the length of the recording in the memory set-up for as close as I could get to the length I wanted to record (just a little longer if need be and the tail of the recording would be cut off by the starting play trig). But, that one2 set-up is the ticket. Oh, and the 3rd recording button on the OT MK2 makes me want to upgrade, so I could just use one button for internal sampling. Damnit…oh well. I’m used to the reach across. Thanks for the vid. Great tips.
On OT mk1 just use the midi button.
Does the same thing
Yeah, if you hit the midi button, you go into midi. Right? You have to hit track button, then midi on the MK1?
Appreciate the kind words
Good tutorial @mpiecora !
I’ll add you can record 64 bars easily with the same method, setting Master Length to 1024, and an A:B trig condition for playback. (1:2 with scale 1/8 for instance).
Recording can be doubled waiting for a recording cycle before pressing rec button. You can wait more cycles and record up to 256 bars (at 121 bpm or more).
Recording can be started with a one shot rec trig, but then you have to press rec button twice to stop it.
Elektron thought about it for you ! It can be set as default in PERSONALIZE menu.
Yes. Doesn’t work with Quick Rec mode, but it works with Track + Midi.
Btw (on MKI) I don’t use Quick Rec mode because I loose the RECAB/CD + Bank shortcut to open recording buffer.
Another point about Dynamic Recorders option : it allows to override track’s Reserve Length settings and use all available memory, but it doesn’t steal memory from other recording buffers having a Reserve Length.
Reverve Recordings and Reserve Length settings steal/reduce RAM memory.
Thanks!
it works great but not in sequence. After the first 8 bar recording i had the issue with the second time recording: its not waiting to start from the beginning, it starts very quick with beginning or around of the second bar. And finally the recording is deleted. There are some issues to look for or to have care off.
I am not sure what you mean when it you say it doesn’t start from the beginning. It will always start from the beginning if QREC is set to PLEN or if you are using a ONE SHOT record trig to trigger the recording. The recording buffers always erase what is in the buffer if you don’t save the audio once a second recording starts, otherwise it would overdub which you need a PICKUP machine for.
That’s weird. I would take a look at your setup. This is not supposed to happen.
it does not start from the beginning says it das not start at the beginning of the pattern. it starts not at the first page, it starts at the second page
You might want to check your REC trigger placement, check to see if there is one on page 2
good advice for the developpers to implement a screen shot, like Yamaha has it done on the montage and modx.
what do you mean exactly? 'REC Trigger placement? I only have rec setups. There is rec1 for on2 or one or hold its on on2 and rec2 with qrec off or plen its on plen
In other words, check where your record triggers are in the pattern. Could it be that there are multiple record triggers clashing with each other, or causing confusion?
