External midi keyboard only playing single track

Hello all

Just got my A4 today and am really enjoying learning about it
one thing that’s confusing me is both my midi keyboards are only playing a single track whereas the keyboard on the a4 plays all four of them .

I’m using ableton live 9 with a arturia keylab and a keith mcmillen Qunexus

not sure if it would affect things but i updated the firmware and am using Overbridge which is amazing.

I have tried burrowing into the midi settings but can’t find anything that works

If I understand you right, you want to play sounds from different tracks. If yes, you have to just select the same midi-channel on your midikeyboard as auto channel of A4. Check it in midi settings of A4. By default it is 9. Now you can play sounds, which were assigned to A4’s tracks by selecting needed track on A4.

Hi yes I think you’ve got me, I’ve changed the midi channel on keyboards to nine and yes i can see that the auto channel is set to 9 but still only one track plays :dizzy_face:

Are you also actually physically selecting the different tracks on the Analog Four when you want to hear them?

Is it always the same track number that you can hear? Have you muted the other tracks?

Its always playing track one

the keyboard on the a4 plays which ever track i select

Looks strange… Usually, the main thing you have to do is to select channel 9 (auto channel) on your midi keyboard.

  1. Check that your midi keyboard sends notes to channel 9 (you can do it by connecting it to DAW, specify ch 9 to any virtual instrument and try to play).

  2. Connect A4 to DAW via usb cable and try to send midi notes to chan 9. While sending notes switch to different tracks with different sounds on A4.

  3. Try to change Global slot of A4 in project menu or change project.

Did you try it on different patterns? May be unison mode is on?

for some reason its all working now! i changed some settings in a4 midi config and its all working either with daw or standalone very confusing, thanks for your help.
