Experimental, avant-garde and leftfield hip hop artists?

17 plus years old, still pretty avant garde. Thanks for the good times chris.

I know clipping but what do you mean by concept wise?

…conceptwise means to me, what they/he is talking about and how it all worx with what is there…which is an essential rule to all good art of any kind…

and how the whole project crosses / comes along…including this brilliant little but huuuge band/project name…clipping…what a brand of it’s own…worx in and from all directions, all on it’s own…totally average and totally genius at once…
never heard of it before and damn, i whish that dead simple but universal name/idea would have had crossed my mind…

…consolidated…saw them live a few times in the early 90ies…
many hated it, stating a lot, they paid 20 bux to watch cnn…but they were truu first anti establishment fo real…too real for too many…

but they were real for real…pretty first ones who took that road…

i just heard about this guy a few months ago. i’ve been loving some of his production, especially his stuff with zelooperz

yeah he has an intriguing ear when it comes to his musical choices, I wish he would collab with BusDriver

i’d definitely be into that.

and while we’re on the busdriver topic, a couple songs that have pretty consistently been in rotation since they were released

I was about to name Shigeto, but figured it wasnt really hiphop. Really dope stuff though

I guess I’ve never really heard of him referring to himself as anything in particular so it would be interesting to know, but I’ve always regarded him as hiphop

Something I’ve been enjoying for a bit, and hopefully someone else does too! This album introduced me to Bruiser Wolf as well, so that was a pleasant surprise. Not really sure if it’s “avant garde”, but then again I don’t really understand genres in general (musical taxonomy is weirdly difficult for me to grasp)

Holy shit that Beachhead album is impressive. Production sounds like something between Death Grips, Clams Casino and Skinny Puppy. Vocally reminds a lot of Backxwash, overlapping into screamo metal-

@reeloy if you’re new to Clipping this is a nice primer to their influences… music conrcete, noise, 90’s hiphop, soundtracks, etc.

Still blows me away that Daveed is the Hamilton guy.
