Eurorack audio levels and analog four audio input

dear all,

I’m going to make a first step in the modular world. the first module should be the basimilus iteritas alter from noise engineering. for sequencing I want to use my analog four mk1. think this is an interesting combination for the sounds I’m interested in.

but how to get the audio out of eurorack?
connecting the unit directly to the audio inputs on the analog four is possible, but people told me it’s not a good idea because of different levels (sorry, but don’t understand most of the tech talk related to electricity). same for connecting the unit to my sound card (focusrite scarlett).

now I’m looking for an output module.
is it better to get something like the doepfer A-138b or a dedicated output module like erica pico synths pico out?

any advise/ experiences very much appreciated.

thank you,
boris

No need for an output module as the A4 inputs handle Eurorack levels just fine.
A4 has level controls for the inputs so adjust these to suit

just buy an attenuator

thank you for your quick reply.
just connecting the module to the A4 without output module would be great.

what is the level parameter on the A4 actually doing, is it setting the level of incoming audio or the sensitivity of the input? or is there no difference from a technical perspective? as I don’t know much about electricity this is hard to understand for me.

Unbalanced audio inputs:
Input level: +19 dBu maximum

if you browse the 10th(or so) post here you’ll see a list of typical voltages

so the A4 is quite capable, but you’ll want to reduce the levels to balance them with the internal voices anyway
