Was looking for a very small and simple 4 in/out option for my mobile rig that I could use for an Eventide H9 and Micromonsta in conjunction with my RME FF800. My search has returned this one as the best candidate - ESI Maya 44 usb+. I don’t wont mic pres, monitoring options etc. Basically this would let me use an aggregated device on Mac and just be able to join up my portable solution to my main gear with just one usb cable. Obvs Im not expecting anything on the level of RME conversion but has anyone used this and able to confirm that the conversion and noise floor is ok for recording synths/fx??
I’m pretty sure some of the writers at Sound-on-Sound magazine had ESI Mayas these in their setups when reviewing other kit…but that was from a looooong time ago…when I used to read the paper version.
I imagine it therefore wasn’t too bad a choice at the time. Although you probably can’t consider it an endorsement, it might give you a place (https://www.soundonsound.com/) were you can conduct more research?
Thanks wriggy_b. I saw a review in SOS of the original Maya 44 which sounded ok. The latest option is the 44+ which I would hope is an upgrade on the original’s quality. Just wondered if anyone here had any real world experience that could comment.
