Erica × 112dB Echolocator desktop delay

Yeah… the bat and the font are not my thing at all…

I say this as a guy with the Bastl Thyme+ which is also fairly busy in design.

But this does sound pretty dope. I think delay effects are really the things I like buying. Wouldn’t mind trying this one some day. The Ricky Tinez video was a cool demo.

Edit: ehhhh…. The panel font and graphic are kinda growing on me lol

I think it looks and sounds awesome, and wow it’s crazy playable! Pretty sick.

Agreed. It’s something else. I think the EMX-1 is a design masterpiece too but a lot of people find it ugly. It’s one of the most perfect objects I’ve ever seen in person

Any chance this thing (and the Nightverb) will ever be released as plugins? The Zen Delay can also do the infinite feedback with a limiter, plus filter and distortion, right?

Given that Zen Delay has been, chances are pretty good. But they’re going to want a decent lag time to sell some hardware units first…!

So far as I know, 112dB does the DSP and Erica does the hardware. So I’d be looking at 112db.com.

My Zen Delay cost so much I’m still recovering from it. I’ll pass this one, although I’m guessing this one doesnt have the high frequency peak issue in some of the filter modes?

Anyhoo, with a Zen, Boss DM-101 & Boss MD-500, I’m all delayed out

This is the most fun, playable delay i’ve ever owned.

Same here. Fully agree. This device is absolutely great and musical.

Did they fix the 10kHz whine I wonder?

Love the SNL skits about Papyrus!

Is this an all digital path or is the filter analog?
No hints on the site or in the manual, so I guess all digital…

I’m a bit bummed that there’s no way to modulate the filter cutoff. The pedal sounds fantastic, and I get that it’s designed to be hands-on, but there are moments when I want both hands on my synth and would love for the delay to evolve more organically in the background.

So here’s my personal wishlist—what I think would take this pedal from great to perfect:
-The ability to route the LFO to the filter cutoff, or even other parameters.
-The option to assign the Orbit knob to different destinations—it could essentially serve as a second, random LFO.
-The ability to use the Panning knob to offset the left and right delay times, instead of sticking to perfect ping-pong.

In short, a bit more routing flexibility would unlock a lot of creative potential while keeping the hands-on spirit.

Yeah but then I need external midi lfos… I’m speaking about routing the internal lfo

Just a thought… I think everyone needs a sequencer that can do that anyway - opens up a world of possibilities

With that logic, every product flaw could be “fixed” by buying more gear, and nothing would ever improve. My post is about how the pedal itself could evolve, not how to turn my setup into a spaghetti monster of cables and MIDI.

Some of us want creative tools to be creative out of the box, not just as parts in a never-ending chain of workarounds.

Sure. But the only people who can do anything with what you suggest are Erica. So kind of seems like this suggestion should be addressed to them.

@1AM is just offering a work-around for everyone else, many of whom already have this gear around in their studios. Try not to take it as a personal exhortation to go out and buy gear.

For what it’s worth, the request to add filter cutoff to the internal LFO destinations sounds reasonable to me.

I tried and loved the Zen Delay, haven’t tried the Nightverb or Echolocator. Erica Synths have a knack for designing hardware that is super attractive, which makes it hard to make sensible decisions with my wallet!
