Erica Synths PĒRKONS HD-01

That’s what I plan to use with it (keystep 32). Just purchased a Perkons today after a few weeks of research (and returning a Tonverk to get one). Plan to use my MPC Live 3 with it, along with mixer, guitars and pedal board. The sound profile is something I’ve always wanted (industrial/glitch/techno) with wysiwyg type UI. Overall plan is techno:/downbeat/and shoegaze.

This is a cool idea. Appreciate the access to design concept you’re developing. Can’t wait to see iteration/video. Please post when proto is ready. I’d be happy to be tester.

Great stuff! Not used my Perkons for a long long time and this inspired me to dust it off (literally it was covered!)

Such a fantastic immediate machine - I’ve forgotten some of the interface so spent most my Saturday smashing it thru Ableton Live and jamming! Makes me more excited now for an any firmware enhancement but I’m sure GTA 6 will come first!!

Im not sure if my current firmware is even up to date - off to check if ive missed anything!

Uh Man awesome project…!!!
A 2nd lfo would be great.

in theory couldn’t one load a bunch of samples onto a few sd cards and then use them for different songs at a gig? would you need to reboot the perkons between tunes or would it be as easy as changing the cards between songs for different samples?

Damn it - hooked up a MIDI keyboard for first time and programmed some nice ambient stuff with an Arp sequence recorded in. Tried to duplicate the Pattern to another Pattern and stupidly tried the sequencer copy and paste step method and lost my work

Doh!! Anyhow nice to see it can do more gentle stuff!!

Undo function would be nice haha - think it’s been nearly 6 months since the Firmware update was hinted, wonder if that means they are making major changes or just taking time due to other products. I guess diff voices would be a nice and massive upgrade.

has anybody noticed how perkons resembles somewhat the twisted elektrons blast beats - ah just saw a video about this - maybe a good one to pair with - anyway will look at this

I just paired it with Atrium. Lovely combo as well.

Sometimes I miss this machine. It’s fun as hell to perform on. Only 4 tracks so you can focus on one at a time if you want and just use the main out. I have a drum machine addiction. lol.

It such a full on sound as well. Cant imagine more tracks would fit that well (out the mono anyhow)

Yeah, the mono is key because it has the compressor and I found that the kick coming from the main out needed a good amount of processing compared to my other machines. But the sequencer and playability is still next level compared to anything.

Omg this would be game changer!

Managed to make a trade for a local one in Black. So my setup for the next few months is Perkons, a 522 and an octatrack into laptop. Once I move I’ll unpack my Virus because I’m really missing that synth.

I tried to minimize everything to a syntakt but I just wasn’t digging it and really missed the Octa. So this trade worked out.

I run my drums through the OT and add a little lo fi or crossfade scenes while recording. I just go one track at a time. Perkons fits really well for this. When I used it before I used the individual outs but I think the way to go is through the main out.

Do the individual outs provide the right level to pedals? I forget how that works, it’s been 2 years since I messed with this machine. But my Rat sounds better if the level is instrument versus line.

I recently bought the Perkons, Hexdrums, and LXR-02 to supplement my 4 Elektron boxes after I failed to gel with the Pulsar-23.

I cannot stress enough how good the Perkons and Hexdrums pair with each other - their similar gain/compression means they gel together with little effort. The workflow is a perfect mix of recall and improv - I usually have the Perkons laying down the foundations, and then throw in extra improv percussion from the Hexdrums. The LXR-02 is much quieter comparatively, so is only on ghost note duty, but I think that will be resolved shortly with extra gain and compression when I get my Pioneer V10 in.

Does anybody know if the Syntrx case is identical to the Perkons?

Reason I ask is that I see Erica sell rackmount ears for the Syntrx but no mention of the Perkons and I have a nice rack space in my desk for it if possible.

Will drop them a line regardless

Iirc the main out is balanced. Not a huge deal, but I did notice a little bit of a gain difference.
