Erica Synths Hexdrums

God isn’t that the truth. Baseck rips.

he is really good and I felt good like he was jamming on the Hexdrums.

Nice jam.
It looks like he’s using the voices’ volume knobs a lot instead of just mute/unmute. Which possibly hints at a safer way for live performances. And still the square wave kick kicks in relatively louder when activated.

If you can live with it being a toy and not being able to modify any of the voices, the hats on the dr-110 sound really good.

The DR-110 sounds ace. Through an Analog Heat it’s a monster.

Holy crap that Baseck video :face_with_spiral_eyes: Sounds incredible.

Baseck gets the best out of this box. But every other person on YouTube made it sound like absolute shit. I don’t get it

Well I would have snapped this Hexdrums up today if it had this module below instead of the current module I’m hearing on demos.

“Hats-D”

I just cringe at modules and drum machines that have that 808 style hi hat sound, even my Syntakt has the MEH hi hat.
Just my opinion of course however I like the rest of the sounds coming from Hexdrums.

A instrument is what it is. It is the user who makes it shine :slightly_smiling_face:

last night I jammed on my Hexdrums and Perkons and wow such an amazing setup that complement each other well. Perkons does nice guitar and basslines and the kick is massive and the Hexdrums snare, claps and hi hats balance out the Perkons.

Hi, is there any MIDI implementation? I couldn’t find anything in the manual but maybe I’ve overlooked it.

What?! I don’t know much about Perkons, but that’s surprising.

Maybe with the Karplus-Strong engine

Would’ve a been fun to see your setup, I hope it’s as impressive as you say…

yeah it really surprised me when I jammed on it the first day this week. Quite a surprise compared to the more bread and butter drum sounds of Hexdrums.

here it is

yes you need to enter the configuration menu by holding Shift+16 key down to access MIDI settings. It is explained on pages 23-25 of the Hexdrums user manual.

I sent MIDI to Perkons from Hexdrums as it was easier to control tempo with the LCD display on Hexdrums than the cryptic method on Perkons. Works great. Only thing that I still need to figure out is why the 4 sequencer lanes are not displaying correctly on my Perkons when it received MIDI clock from Hexdrums. I may need to open a support ticket with Erica Synths to find out what I am doing wrong as I am still learning both machines.

THX. What I’m missing is a list of notes in order to trigger, e. g. B1, Cymbals etc., and CCs to shape their sounds.

I ask because regrettably my DB-01 only accepts note and velocity via MIDI  and I’m afraid that like all Erica Synths devices I know they dont want to implement it.
