Anyone have any tips for using the FM in a way where you can still program notes in tune? Maybe some combo with the LFO and note triggering?
If you can figure out how to increase or decrease lfo rate logarithmically following the amount the pitch changes, you could do this. It’s not so simple unfortunately.
Question - I want to use my db-01 with a looper. Unfortunately there isn’t a way to mute the db-01 quickly when fading in the loops I capture firm the sequencer (I don’t want to stop the sequencer as that will lose my sync for the next loop). Any suggestions? The db-01 goes through a couple of pedals before it gets to the looper (rc-505 mk2)
Keep an empty sequence and switch to it.
Duh. Of course. Cheers. I’m blaming the sleep deprivation caused by my child…
I must add that DB01 “random” feature is one of the best I now of. I wasnt aware of it until this video (must see for DB users!) Erica Synths DB-01: Advanced randomization
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DnHs8zGe_Tk&t=11s
It’s great! I use the random generator all the time on mine
Ps @Fyzion I run mine through a Bastl DUDE mixer for mute ability. But seems like you got it sorted!
How does that little mixer sound when cranked?
It sounds great, sometimes I run things through it cranked into the DT for sampling
I don’t usually run the DB too hot through it. Anything past halfway is driven. So you can dial in a good amount for whatever you’re doing.
Being used to the very tactile nature of the Elektron buttons, what are those like on the DB-01? Hard/squishy, travel, click? Tell me how you find them!
Hard, less travel, slightly more click. Pretty satisfying.
Like the whole machine, serious, precise and adjusted.
Mine has been boxed for a while for upcoming shipping as I move through temporary housing prior to emigrating. I took it out to answer the question and thought “Damn, this thing is nice!” Maybe I’ll plug it in again today.
Alright. Muchas gracias.
Here’s a(nother) no talking demo of the DB-01 with some less aggressive patches (not only).
Maybe you find it useful.
Nice! These would pair great with the LXR drum synth I bet!
It sure does! (This photo is a bit of a joke. I bought a collapsible laptop stand and stacked the 2 units one on top of the other. I won’t use them like this).
Here’s an unlisted video I made a little while ago for a couple of friends who challenged me to try to make a DAWless jam from scratch. It’s 10 min long and might be a bit boring as I try to come up with a groove. But it shows a bit of a mellower side to the LXR-02 as I avoid using the levels of distortion you see in other videos.
Hi:) I’m trying to figure out if the default note when activating a step can be changed to something else than C3?
I think that would be a great feature. In the earlier versions of the OS the default note was something ridiculous like D#5. C works better for me, however it would be nice for the user to be able to set it.
If you don’t ever change notes for any of the tracks you can always simply use the coarse tuning parameter to pitch the note up or down to where you like.
Edit: Sorry, I thought I was in the LXR-02 thread! Haha
