New jam with the Bassline right here:

I’m looking for a bassline synth. I was thinking of a 303 clone, but this one appeals to me because it does much more in terms of variety of sounds.

Now, what I love with 303 sound is this sound when the filter is closed, the not so extreme side of it. Is the DB-01 able to get close to that sound?

Is it convincing for simple acid basslines? (I have a hard time finding demos about that)

I think it sounds great but it doesn’t sound like a 303. But I’m not an expert on such things.

I know it’s not a 303 clone, and I’m wondering how close it can get in this low filter setting sound. I’ll try it and see.

Else, I’m excited about the range it seems to have. I also hope it extends in territories that aren’t necessarily extreme sound-wise; extreme, it does well, I’ve got that

I think it’s very good at the non resonant, bassy and rubbery, 303 style sound, but one little detail is that the DB-01 always sound like there is a little bit of overdrive on it, it can never be as clean as a more classic mono synth.
Still it is a very cool synth, i’ve been having a blast with mine so far.

PS: Have a look at the video I posted above, there is some “clean” sounds in some.

Thanks, that is very useful! I’ll check the video out

one of the few videos were I really like the sound. It sounds very punchy when the resonance and distortion are not cranked like in most demos

I like this jam!

Makes me wonder, I also love a proper 303 sound! Have you settled on the Xoxbox after trying different ones? There’s one for sale for 245 euros that I saw, does it seem like a fair price?

I’ve got a DB-01. I’m not a legit acid head, so I can’t really say anything of value about wether or not it does acid/303. But I think all the videos give a good example of how it sounds. It has some flexibility so you might push it into some different directions - which some videos do. So I think that if you like what you hear in the videos, you’ll like what it sounds like in real life.

Xoxbox’s are amazing but mostly the old ones. There’s a lot of very badly built ones flying around in the used market.
But to answer your original question, no I did not made any comparison before getting this one, it was actualy my second hardware synth, back in 2014 I believe, I bought to a friend who built it himself from one of the first kit ever sold. Since then I’ve tried a lot of other clones and a few original TB-303, I really can’t tell the difference between the Xox and an original. I mean there is some, but not more than between two original units.

Anyway send me a PM with the link to the cheap xox you found so I can have a look

I agree. Sadly, a necessary evil.

Picked one up. Any feedback? Thoughts? Tips? Suggestions? (while I wait for it to arrive)…

You’re in for a treat. Self-patching the CV out to cutoff CV in often helps. Tweaking phase on a slow LFO is a revelation (at least, it was for me).

How do you guys use Erica Synth Bassline when you want to start a new project but you don’t want to lose the one you created?
I can’t see a way to save projects, just patterns can be saved.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

Patterns are all you can save. If you like what you have, take a photo of the knob positions, and take some notes on any LFO or ARP settings that are relevant.

That’s why I record, if not everything is saveable.

Digital backup:
File + mouse and basic image software.
Analog backup:
Printing + colored pencils.
