The “Ensemble d’Improvisation Paula Berthe” is a collective that is now 4 months old. We improvise with electronic or electro-acoustic instruments, some we made ourself, while our visual artist creates the images for our sonic landscapes (or is it the other way around ?)
We are 7 core members (amongst whom 2 women // 4 Elektron users // 3 visual artists // 1 Ukrainian) and several people come and play with us for our shows or weekly improvisation sessions.
No beat / no synchronisation, we try to keep the music as natural as possible. With such a huge number of people, listening to each other is obviously the key. And while we often fly over ambiant spaces and drones, I feel like we manage to leave some place to the others, we often reach the other and melt our sounds in a constructive way or interact with others’ accidents…
I love playing in this band, these people are so open-minded and resolute.
Since last August, we played 3 live sessions (art gallery, radio, bar) and maybe 15 home sessions.

Really like what I’ve heard, take sometimes tonight for a carefull listening… your first session with “Digitone” is impressive, I like mine for this sounds… congratulations! (je savais qu’il me fallait aller à Rennes…)
For the live, I’ve played mostly Digitone and 0-Coast with Keystep, and some samples extracted from Subnautica with the OT.
And yes, I’m pretty happy with having chosen to come back in Rennes
