End-of-chain FX box for live sets: Kaoss Pad vs alternatives?

Awesome, thank you soooo much

A little pricier (though not compared to an OT), but a lot of people seem to like the new SP404s for end-of-chain effects and compression. It can also do double duty as an interface and a standalone recorder.

For a live input, you can stack up to 4 FX (I think? maybe more if you get creative w routing?), 2 of which are hands-on tweakable (via 3 knobs and a toggle to switch back and forth between them), and 2 that can’t really be tweaked quick enough for a live setting but which can be saved as presets and quickly switched or selected.

edit: I think you can stack 5 effects on an input.

There’s 3 aspects that speak against it:

  • As an end of chain effect it’s kinda overkill (complexity)
-The price if you’re not snatching an used MK1 is relatively high

  • for the price as just an end of chain effects box the algorithms sound kinds dated/cheap in comparison to more modern pure FX boxes.

  • a zoia empress for example sounds probably better (from demos I like it’s effects more) and does not loose much in direct comparison while being cheaper.

  • I think it’s even more flexible in internal routing if you don’t need to created effect chains on the fly (and even then the octatrack is to complex to do that that easily live)

I got a used iPad 9 for 100€, NI audio 6 for 20€!:hugs:
Add drambo, looperator, turnado and some Tonebooster Filter eq limitter et voila - less than 250€
