Encoders inconsistent/failing?

With elektron only real trouble I’ve had is a scratchy volume pot, encoders aren’t rock solid but compared to wobbly Waldorf an elektron encoder feels like a tree trunk. Arturia does seem to use a better part but it may also have to do with how close they solder the legs to the pcb. Luckily no encoder failure for me yet so hopefully doesn’t become an issue.

That faulty encoder in Microfreak was soldered really well with high temperature solder, so we had to use a heat gun to take it out.

That’s another thing I don’t like. In Model Samples/Cycles Elektron uses better encoders, some are notched and they feel much nicer! There is no potentiometers in MS and MC and there was no problems. I think of selling my DT rather than fixing it as it works fine but just feels bad, I have one more DT.

I also have another DT which is a few years newer, but I still mainly use my original one manufactured in I think 2017. Other than the volume pot which I was kind of able to fix by forcing fader grease into the bushing from the shaft side it doesn’t really have any issues but I just kind of feel like if something will go wrong it will probably be with this one. I try not to be rough with it and hopefully it will still feel good for a while. My digitone had some issue with rusting screws which caused some surface rust on the faceplate but elektron took care of it with warranty and I haven’t had any issue with that since then, I think there was a known issue with the original faceplate screws where they were not too corrosion resistant but they changed to a better one at some point.
