Elektron Octatrack MK2 fault

Hi there, I am aware that this issue has cropped up before, however did anyone manage to find a fix without having to send the OT back to Elektron. My OT MK2 turns on and then after 5 minutes the screen goes off and some of the buttons begin to flash orange. I have put the sampler into test mode and it says everything is “ok” I also updated the OS, reset it and took the Compact Flash drive out, unfortunately the issue has persisted. My power source is clean and the power supply I’m using is the correct voltage :grimacing: Any help would be greatly appreciated. I’ve attached a link to a video of the issue here: https://youtube.com/shorts/IrImYJFU8_k?si=c9ingbxBY3MeQS4p
Many Thanks
Syd

Unfortunately, since you’ve already tried all the common troubleshooting steps—OS update, reset, test mode, and checking the power supply—it looks like a hardware issue. The fact that the screen turns off while buttons flash suggests a deeper problem, possibly with the internal power regulation or a failing component.

At this point, your best option is to contact Elektron support and arrange to send the unit in for repair. I know it’s not ideal, but they’ll be able to diagnose and fix the issue properly.

Either you’re an electronics technician or you know one. Then you can fix it yourself.
…But in that case, you wouldn’t be asking us.

Just to double check, you are using a 12v DC, centre positive power supply?

Are you using it plugged into computer/USB? There was an issue with that I think. Like, when the system timed out it would freeze up or something, idk maybe unrelated.

Another vote for contact Elektron though.

Yeah I’m using the correct power supply and there’s no USB cable plugged in, just the power. I think it must be an issue with a capacitor after reading about this problem elsewhere on elektronauts. It seems like sending it to Elektron for repair is inevitable.

Unfortunate, but I think it’s a valuable piece of gear. Probably best to get it repaired.

seems like a power issue are u using the original adapter? If so does it wiggle feel very loose ? after sometime the little metal clip holding it is bend to much downwards causing bad connection u could try to bend it up again with some tweezers and see if the plug is snug again be carefull dont push it to hard also using third party power source is not the way to go with elektron gear. other thing u could try is open it up and see if all cables are tight. bending it up again worked for me many times.
