Elektron keycap sets please

that makes a lot of sense. I didn’t realise the anniversary editions don’t use rubber coating.

I understand why they do it. It has some kind of premium feel, it is less slippery and the slightly grey tone is looking a bit more calm and modern. Overall, it’s part of the Elektron design.

I disagree. Having numbers on the trigs is one of the main sells for Elektron sequencers to me, makes it easy to convey information, and I hope this never changes. Every other sequencer does the LEDs above the buttons or just does a see through button and it weirdly makes sequencer data feel like a mush of data as opposed to distinct placements.

i.e. maybe silly but in my mind on an Elektron sequencer I can more easily remember this sequence has trigs on 1, 5, 7 & 12 versus another sequencer where I have to look and stop to count.

If there was a product like an OXI One with numbered trigs half the size of the Elektron trigs, it would probably be my favorite sequencer of all time purely from usability.

it’s actually way faster to navigate with other visual cues, like quarter note markings on a 909, and even the machinedrum, muscle memory kicks in after a little white anyway, and i’ve played these machines in dark sweaty clubs. haven’t heard of anyone complaining about this in the MD section, but can’t comment on other sequencers that are just a row of buttons without any guides

jokes aside, the comment was merely that, if the only illumination option is to accept sticky buttons, then i’d rather go back to the older designs

Ah, whoops and apologies, I got confused by the discussion of rubberization.

ooof yeah my Push 1 has that rubbery/degrades-to-stickiness material, had use some goo-gone & elbow grease to get it better (still ain’t perfect tho…) that material is a plague across the industry. i ain’t buying anything that has it again, that’s for sure. my Rytm/A4 mk1s are looking better and better (when i can see their pathetic degrading screens lol…)

Sure but you can get the same effect without involving that rubber coating… Just saying.

If Elektron wanted to, they could absolutely get their caps manufactured in doubleshot black/translucent PBT. That would be really nice to see.
