Hi folks! I have been an electronic music producer for nearly 20 years now, signed to major labels mostly producing on Ableton. I started exploring Elektron devices less than one year ago and just put together my first live set with Digitakt 2, Syntakt and Analog Four.
I think the result is so different to what I’d normally do on my computer, and I really like that. For some reason, I give myself much more permission to explore.
It wouldn’t be the same though, Push is only being used to trigger patterns in the set, basically sending program change messages to the Elektrons, but with names so I can navigate the set. Syntakt takes care of the low end, Digitakt hats and textures and A4 the main melodies. Having each box doing something different allows me to filter, apply FXs, and adjust volumes as I wish. It’s a more musical result
I don’t think they are that terrible tbh haha. I could use its hats, but would still miss the ability to use samples. Particularly considering my massive collection of samples curated over 20 years
Although I don’t mind the Syntakt for hats (not every hat sound has to come from a cymbal machine…), it’s such a common refrain from everyone that the ST doesn’t have good hihats that I have high hopes Elektron will add some different cymbal machines on the digital tracks in the future…
Whats that platform thing it’s all sitting on? And once again, sounds so sweet… Will be on the lookout for your future sessions. Nice explanation on the rig as well, always interesting to hear how people end up using the stuff because there are so many possibilities.
