Electronic Audio Experiments Sending v2 Delay - A Masterpiece!

I’ve posted my list of delays before. This thing is tier one, total masterpiece. Can’t say enough good things about it. Amazing with synths and guitar. Didn’t see a thread about it so thought I’d start one!

Here is the official product page:

So how would you compare it with other analog delays you own?

Functionally it looks very similar to the EHX Deluxe Memory Man TT, only with a few nice extras like a choice of wave shape.

It also sounds like it gets close to some of the Moog Matriarch’s delay chaos.

Would prefer stereo for ping-pong at this price, but looks pretty nice.

I wonder if the new Boss might not be more flexible though.

I trust ddiamond when something is labeled tier one.

Very cool sounding pedal, but at almost $700 you would have to really be in love with analogue BBD! I only have one analogue delay (MXR carbon copy) but I have a ton of digital (Volante, Mimeophon and Zoia), for me I have come to terms withy the fact that digital delays are so good at faking analogue/tape that I personally cant really tell the difference so (fortunately) my gear lust for this type of thing has ended!

BBD is a nicely degraded sound that’s imo hard to emulate. Even nicer when you run an analog mono delay through a digital stereo delay.

I like the EAE Sending’s sound when set to dirty. Form factor wise the Thermae is my favourite and it doesn’t need to hide in terms of sound either. That said, it also costs 570 eur, albeit with 4 bbd chips (vs 2) of the same spec as found in the EAE Sending.

The creator responded to someone with this.

I’m a huge fan of digital delays. I have many! I had the dm101 and was really disappointed with the sound. The specs were all there, but I was underwhelmed with it.

This thing just screams class and quality. It’s super versatile, the preamp is incredible, and I don’t know what else to say other than it’s super MUSICAL.

One of the only delays I’ve never tried or owned in the Moog 104m. I have a matriarch and I love the delay on it, I’m not sure how that compares to the 104.

But that pedal goes for crazy prices, and from my understanding, this pedal matches or beats that pedal in many ways. It’s expensive but I actually think it’s the right price for what it does.

Also, for synths, my favorite delays are the Zen Delay, Dr. A, the Volante and the delays on the DB4 mixer. This is up there with them (though the zen delay is unbeatable for hands on fun!)

The Volante is a very versatile delay - my fabourite is drum mode. I haven’t heard any other bbd in real life except the Thermae and that’s a wonderfully musical pedal. I guess with bbd it comes down to which tone you enjoy most.

Yeah I think use case is pretty important also, something like DM-2w waza craft is like the essence of simplicity, in my mind it is just as useful as a saturation device as it is as a delay, not much as far as setting go but the perfect thing to toss on a deep bassy mono sound, never seems to get in the way in a mix. A lot of the more complex delays run the risk of totally dominating a mix but are a ton of fun to just jam into.
