It’s all a series of Venn bubble intersections, I see those more on the end of “Industrial Metal” which focuses on guitars (or synth riffs) by design over the “Electronic Music” category.

Still awesome uses though! I’m trying to incorporate more blast muted / gated guitars in my electronics :smiley:

And not inaccurate that those are acts that heavily leverage electronics, but it’s not as hard to find guitars in metal-adjacent (categorically) acts versus more techno acts.

Similarly, there can be forms of guitar music considered “ambient” with no synthesizers!

surprised not to see Ben Frost in here yet… especially if the request was for moodier/darker stuff!
His most recent album was in collaboration with an amazing mathcore/metal guitarist. As with his last couple of albums I struggled with it on first go, it all just seemed so ‘wrong’, but have grown to love it now. I think that sense of wrongness might be a bit of testament to hearing something that hasn’t really existed before…i.e. proper innovation/experimentation…
