Duplicate pattern, without stopping?

How is this done?

I can only Paste (FUNC + Paste) into a new blank pattern once the sequencer switches over to the new, empty pattern slot — which creates a moment of silence until I paste the pattern.

Is there a seamless way to do this? Or is there simply a function that duplicates the current pattern into the next empty slot?

Hold PTN + [Trig] then tap paste. Also works for copying a non-active pattern, also works for pasting to multiple patterns, tap paste again to undo.

YESSSS! :raised_hands:

Thank you!

This has eluded me for so long.

Can you please explain the process for copying a non-active pattern?

Doesn’t selecting a pattern (in order to copy it) initiate the pattern changing to that pattern?

(I tried doing this a few times, with no success)

It’s the same pattern, hold Ptn then a trig and tap Copy. It’s a quick and dirty way to switch to another pattern mid-pattern.

I’m not quite sure we are on the same page.

When you say ‘copying a non-active pattern’ — do you mean to say that you can copy and paste non-active patterns (ie. ones other than the one playing), but without selecting them, and therefore switching to them?

For example:

• I am on Pattern 1, and want to copy Pattern 3 to empty pattern slot 4
• To do this, I hold PTN, press Trig 3 and COPY — but doing this, switches the active pattern to Pattern 3

Am I doing it wrong?

While playing pattern 1, hold PTN, hold trig 3, press COPY, release trig 3, release PTN, and you are still playing pattern 1.

Just done it on DT2 but from memory my M:S and M:C are the same so I would guess it applies to all boxes.

If you miss out the COPY, it will switch patterns.

I have never been able to remember these commands, I have to keep a printed copy of the ‘shortcut’ functions from manual at my desk. 5 years with DT and it still trips me up!
