DTOG and Google Pixel 8

I’d previously been using a Huawei phone to record audio from the DT’s USB output. It worked flawlessly. Unfortunately, I lost that phone and ‘upgraded’ to a GP8… Now when I try to connect the DT, it just cycles between connecting and disconnecting. Is anyone else using a Pixel device in this way??

Not much help I’m afraid, but yes, I have the same behaviour with my Pixel 7a (running Android 14) and my DT1 and A4mkII.

I submitted a bug report to Google but those just disappear into the ether, so no idea whether anyone even reads them, let alone any word on a fix.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that USB audio worked fine on a much older version of Android, so there’s potential for them to fix it on the Pixels with a future update, but I’m not holding my breath.

As a note, my wife’s Samsung phone works with the Elektron USB audio 100% correctly which is the only other thing I have available to test it with.

Just to clarify, for me, recording the audio via USB is totally fine on the Pixel but playback is broken.

With my old phone, a very old OnePlus, it was the opposite way round. I had hoped upgrading to a Google phone would mean everything worked properly but sadly not.

Yeah, from what I can gather, the issue isn’t with the hardware. People had a similar issue with the P6, but it was fixed with a kernel update. There’s loads of articles dating from mid-October '23 stating that lossless audio over USB was coming in “a future update” but so far it doesn’t seem to have materialised.

I got it to work. All I did differently was connect the DT before switching it on and voilà!

That trick doesn’t work for me unfortunately.
I have a pixel 6a and my gf has a pixel 7.
Android 13 used to work and android 14 and now 15 don’t connect to any of my Elektron devices via USB audio. Just stuck in a loop of connecting and disconnecting.
Also sent a bug report to Google, but I am not holding my breath.
I think I might switch to the next iPhone SE 4 when it comes out next year. Seems better for synths etc… anyway 🤷
