DT2 Overbridge & external FX

Ok so i purchased my DT2 a few days back and diving in.

Just wondering about the possibilities with Overbridge. Im new to Overbridge and have a couple of questions

Workflow wise - does anyone work with DT2 using overbridge in Ableton in a creative sense (not just tracking stuff out). Is there much latency to have Live and DT2 playing well enough togther?

Secondly - Following on, say im routing tracks from DT2 to Ableton using Overbridge. Would routing some of those tracks back to external FX (in this case a space echo) and back in be possible in a live sense? Or would there just be too much latency/sync issues?

thanks

I don’t know how Overbrigde should ‚normally‘ be used—if you want to put it that way. I sometimes use it to automate parameters of a sound in Digitakt 2 via a MIDI controller when this cannot be done (or should be done differently) via P-Locks. It sometimes accelerates the programming/trimming of a sound. To do this, I assign parts of the plugin’s interface to the encoders/potentiometers/faders that are meant to do this job, and then record the session in an automation track. Just how it works with other plugins, too.

In my case, live performance is possible in terms of a really low latency, so I can also redirect single tracks to external effects (EQs, Compressors, etc.) – but then it shouldn’t be a ‘high speed’ D’n’B performance where you have to make mutes or switches in 16th notes at 160 BPM… Ambient or Dub works better, because to keep everything tight (with other synths and/or plugins), all devices involved should be kept in sync via individual track delays. A global latency compensation doesn’t work well in a real live-session in Live. So it might happen that your physical actions are too late to be recognized (due to the delay) - that of course depends on the overall (systemwide) delay time. (I hope you understand what I mean…). This can be a bit tricky and requires a little preparation and practice.
