DT2 legato sequencing - clicks and pops

I just want to sequence a legato 808 bassline without a click whenever the sample is retriggered at a non-zero crossing by the following note. The only solution I’ve found for this is to manually adjust the note length parameter for each note and perfectly dial it in so that the ENV release can close up the waveform just before the next note is triggered. This is such a tedious process, I must be missing something obvious.

The Legato setting under TRK Setup just seems to maintain ENV when note lengths overlap, rather than actually change the length of the notes.

Sorry if this is a NOOB question. I can’t find the solution in the manual.

Turn off envelope retrigger on AMP and give it a little bit longer of attack. That’s how I sequence my basslines from 808s and 909 Toms

Thanks that helps but I still get clicks from the sudden discontinuity of the first note, rather than the start of the second note, if you get me - so it clicks no matter the attack of the following notes bc the previous note doesn’t have time to release if played legato.

You may already know, but without holding down a trig, you can adjust the default note length for the entire track on the [TRIG] page. Then if you need a note to have a longer release, you can parameter lock that one.

Have you tried to filter it out with the base/widh filter ?

Yeah it’s easy to clean up, I just thought there would be a quick way to ‘legato’ the actually lengths of the notes in a pattern, like in a DAW you can select notes on a piano roll and execute a legato funciton to tie all the note lengths together.
