DT and NI expansion packs

Hi,

Has anyone been able to use NI expansion packs within the DT without issue?
I know in theory this should be fine…

Cheers for any feedback!

You can load the samples into the Digitakt. Any other stuff that comes with the NI packs is incompatible. I have a lot of the Maschine Expansions loaded into my AR and DT, the samples work great with the Elektrons.

I’ve heard vague rumors of people scanning the NI folders on their system for .wav files before selling their Maschine and transferring their license, which of course I would by no means endorse or even recommend.

Does the DT automatically turn the sample into mono after the import ?

I believe this is done during the import.

Ah ok thats great then - i guess i wouldnt be able to use the ‘construction kits’ with the expansions but not sure how much i want them anyway- just want to bulk up on my drum library mainly. Was thinking of getting a 2nd hand Maschine but i might try a pack in the DT first, thanks.

I´d take a look into the infos before. NI tells you how many samples, one-shots, loops and other wav files are inside. I bought the Transistor Punch expansion and a few others although I don´t have a Maschine to use the samples. But there are expansions that consist mainly of patches for massive or drum synths that you couldn´t use with the Digitakt.

If you are on a Mac you can right click on the folder and choose “show package contents”.
This may make it so you can see the .wav files contained within. Best of luck.

Easy enough to get the sounds out of the kits and remap them.

I made some software once upon a time to do this, can’t remember where I left it though.

It doesn’t sum to mono, instead it takes one of the channels and discards the other.

Expansion packs arec composed of different elements: a bit like samples vs sounds on DT…
Kits are composed of sounds which are in return composed of samples.
You cannot load a sound from an expansion pack but you can load a sample. You will not be loading all the tweakings that compose the sound (ie EQ, effects etc…). Unless you sample sounds one by one.
