Hi Dave - did you do this from the OP-1 keyboard or use a controller? I find i make too many “sausage finger” mistakes when try to record chords etc on the OP-1. I assume you used all 4 tracks - how did you approach the recording? Sounds nice and mellow.
These were lovely, particularly the second one, evoking a similar response in me as Stars of The Lid and A Winged Victory For The Sullen do.
It seems as if the video is actually part of the music, particularly with the captions, which appeared like silent lyrics.
The beauty of decay (or decline).

Hey Bloke,
I recorded it live from the keyboard at around 65 bpm (with the metronome to offer some sort of timing for me). The fact that it was so slow, and that the attack and release on the drones was long, meant that my fingers could wander up and down slowly, without too many sausage problems.
It’s only comprised of 3 tracks (3 drones). I did one on Wednesday, one on Thursday and added the last one on Friday, before playing the “cut record” through my reverb pedal.

Thanks both. It is Grim Up North - remember that track by the KLF? Ace.
Some top tunes on here - loving the OP-1 track Kusalamati.
/OH
I remember It’s Grim Up North, it mentions Otley in its roster of grim places, which is just over the hill from where I spent my formative years (near Leeds).
I fear that Norwich wouldn’t be able to offer the same level of grit for such a similar audio-visual undertaking, but Great Yarmouth on the other hand…
Gotta love the drones though. I discovered their delights in 2008 (through Stars of The Lid) and instantly melted in love with the sound. I discovered Deepchord at the same time, and along with dubbed out textures, drones have pretty much shaped my listening tastes for the last 5 years.
All awesome pieces. Gonna track on with something myself. Great thread.
@ Dave “stand here a while” is double beautiful!!
Cheers.
That was the last piece of music I made before an involuntary creative hiatus set in, which lasted nearly 3 years.
I do remember it being a joy to make though.
thanks a lot, we just started working on vol.2 of Kosmiche Deathworship last night so if you dig that one keep your eyes peeled for more to come.
Hi guys 1 track MD drone sine machine and a bunch of LFOs
Soooo much good stuff here!!!
In absolute raptures.
Teeth engraved with the names of the dead is nothing short of spectacular.
Wow,
Just awestruck.

channels are mono only, but doubled to L and R , beat is from the MD
Here’s my offering I recorded last night. Not up to the standard of the ones I’ve heard here or mixed properly, just gone straight out of the mixer to a recorder. Gonna do more tho as I enjoyed it.

I really enjoyed the cinematic feel of this one, would have gone well with a Cronenberg / Carpenter movie.
^ Thanks, that’s a great compliment
I dunno why you tube makes the electric plate thingy freak out like that… Quite like it tho.
I love this thread! Great submissions too.
I’m hoping I’ll find some time soon to make my own contribution.
I hope this thread lives for a long time!
i wish there was a like button instead of having to quote
Your piece has a good dark feel to it, so in my book, that constitutes a drone. ![]()
Liking the airy synth and good reverb usage. The sort of static burst that appears occasionally is cool. Nice one.
awesome stuff here! posting something I posted earlier:
an OP-1 only drone paired with a mangled field recording coming from the OT
