I’d move to a sleepy little “affordable” beach town, nothing fancy, maybe a small island with one grocery store and a couple of seafood stores, a fruit & veg stand or two, a good bookstore, plop my butt down on a comfy sofa, with either a DT, DN, or ST on my lap - depending on mood, plug in some decent headphones, stare out at the water and sunset, and make songs no one would ever listen to.
Sounds like a good way to live out my days until global warming melts my face off, or the nukes come flying across the sky, or more realistically, I run out of money and have to move into a trailer in the woods.
I’m not one to set up any strict rules for threads. I mainly want to hear about the place you picture yourself being content and productive and joyful, making music with your Elektron box of choice.
New Zealand. Somewhere between the mountains and the sea, with the old growth forest and moss and giant ferns. Away from all the madness. In a hammock with a Digitone or a Machinedrum.

i still have fantasies about becoming a beach bum on the east coast of Taiwan. if i ever stumble into a load of inheritance or something, thats my first stop. knew a guy renting a large warehouse type property in the mountains outside of taipei, i want that kinda set up
City where I live now (Utrecht) but then a house looking out into the forest and a stones throw from the city at the same time as well as a stones throw from the beach so I could learn to surf and start my mornings surfing in the summer. With a big garden that has an entrance to the forest so the kids have room to play freely and build huts and such. The garden could have a children-free quiet area with a hammock for my girlfriend. And of course a shed for a big studio with large windows looking out into the forest with a Digitakt II
Quite happy where I am though but that would definitely be a very solid upgrade
Greenwich Village, in a brownstone like the one my grandfather was born in. Except instead of there being 20 of us packed into a tenement like he was, just me, my wife & cat and an Analog Rytm. And a Fender J of course.
I want to live in a super walkable city in the US with theater and concert venues and full of energy. College town maybe? No real winter. I love living in NYC, but I’m kinda done with being cold. Also absolutely dying for a yard and a garage or a basement that I can make into a dedicated space for music.
To put a finer point on it, I guess Ann Arbor, but if Ann Arbor moved south enough that it stopped seeing snow.
I want to live in a building in Tokyo which overlooks the bustling fashionista thoroughfare Omotesando St, the backstreets of Harajuku, and the Shinjuku skyline, Yoyogi Park, and Shinjuku Gyoen park… So I get Central Park style expansive greenery, distant cyberpunk skyscrapers, and a chic pedestrian paradise all at once.
