Dreadbox Murmux Adept

That’s so good to hear, it drives me crazy

Yeah, seriously maddening. I’d offer you my firmware patch but I’m pretty sure they’d like to finish testing it

Had the same issue. It’s a software problem. The team prepared a beta firmware update that fixed the problem on my device. They said they’ll release it shortly.

The Update 1.2 for the Murmux Adept is now official available. The encoder problem is also fixed. :+1::four_leaf_clover::grinning:

Awesome news!
Curious what this Program Change Menu bug is/was…
Parameter Smoothing sounds good too…

Updated the firmware today. For those of you who are impatient: It takes a good fifteen minutes.

I had to test it live right away and produced a chilled sound and recorded it directly to the Zoom recorder.
Murmux Adept sequenced with my favorite reverb, the Voskhot-2M.
Have a great midweek.

How are people thinking about their Murmux now that is has been out for a while and has become unobtainium? Have you ever been tempted to get an Artemis and sell it or is this your dream synth come true?

I tried that and it didn’t work :disappointed: see my video of both side by side above in the thread. Murmux is the best sounding synth ive ever got to try. mind you ive never tried any of the big vintage poly classics- but none of those can be played with MPE either.

For me, the best synthesizer. I wouldn’t give it back, even for a profit.

They are very different even if they use some of the same chips. The Murmux is more of a 70s polysynth with a Dreadbox twist. Spread out UI and not overly complicated. The Artemis is more new-school with all of the bells and whistles. Great layout, but less simple, more portable. Both are very different. I would say the Prophet~6 and OB-6 are more alike than the Murmux and Artemis.

Almost everything is more portable than a Murmux, even a car.

For me it’s the only modern poly synth that plays in the same league as the big classics like Prophet 5 or OB-X. Definitely a keeper.

I suggested to add a „Smooth/Slewed Random“ waveform for the LFOs and Dreadbox seemed open to this idea, so I’m a little disappointed to see a firmware update with just bug fixes. On the other hand it’s great that they are releasing updates for such a small number of units at all. Hopefully there will be more updates in future…

Sure, I’ve been looking at the Artemis and wanting to try one out and thinking of expanding the Dreadbox Collection, but the Murmux is here to stay. I’ve been playing it on a nearly daily basis since I got it o er a year ago and I absolutely love it.
Lots of sonic territory to explore, and it takes me away from my workday bullshit and allows me to get lost in sounds very easily.
Yeah, it takes up a lot of real estate on my desk, but that’s okay with me. It keeps my set up pretty focused and between the Murmux and the Digitone Keys I’ve got 8 voices of analog poly and 8 voices of digital fm.
The smaller Dreadbox synths I own call out to me from their respective chairs on the shelf and then I take one down and play with that one for a bit and remember why I’ve decided to not part with them either.
It’s an instrument I absolutely adore. I love it dearly.
Now that my main encoder doesn’t skip id not hesitate to call it perfect, for me, at any rate… maybe some added lfo shapes down the road? :man_shrugging:

That does sound like it’d be very nice. I’ve not played a synth before that has such an audible “knock” when the phase resets on some of the lfos, but I do t have a whole lot of experience with analog poly synths.

Is there a reason why it’s so big, other than aesthetics and how much of a joy it must be to play?

To contain its massive sound
