Don't Sleep on the Model Samples

Nice set up , did you connect DT and M+S? if yes how is the best thinking at the same direction except i have only microfreak

interesting set up would it be possible to share details how you connect SP and M+S?

the setup is:
Digitakt is the main sequencer sending clock,

  • Digitakt midi out to M:S,
  • M:S midi thru to Microfreak

M:S and Microfreak headphone out to Digitakt both inputs (because I also use DT’s delay and reverb for MF)

it’s cool because there are many possibilities:

  • you can just sync gear and use each sequencer separately
  • you can sequence everything using DT and its 8 midi channels
  • you can modulate many parameters of the MF: including program change, osc types, timbre etc with DT sequencer

now there are probably better ways to route audio (I have a moukey mamx3 mixer - should I use it instead?). I could just run everything through the mixer, and MF through NTS-1 fx instead. would that be an improvement?

thank you i will try !
NTS already using as pedal for MF , MF sounds not very loud

I send both MIDI and audio from the M:S to the SP. I sample patterns from the M:S and use the MIDI for clock and transport messages.

The SP begins recording when it receives a Start message, so it’s very easy to capture patterns from the M:S now that you can record for a set number of measures. Once you’ve sampled a pattern (or chained patterns), you can manipulate the sample via effects and the usual means such as pitch shifting, doubling, reversing etc. It’s a very fast workflow.

Specifics
  1. I’ve got a Midihub between the M:S MIDI out and the SP input. This isn’t necessary, but it allows me to process the MIDI to do the things I mentioned in my previous post.

  2. I also have a small Soundcraft mixer between the M:S audio outputs and the SP stereo inputs. This allows me to route all of my gear to the SP.

Yeah, fair enough, it looks like I don’t use DT all the way as it it has lot more. I’m into ready made samples and probably resampling is one of that things that boost creativity. I just tried to use DT alone, without connecting other gear to it and came not as productive. As I said it is just different machine.

he didn’t complicate nan, he just make it groove :slightly_smiling_face:

My most used Elektron the last year (on the sofa with a powerbank). So quick and fun to get something going, then morph into something else… love it
