Does Overhub reduce latency

Does Overhub actually reduce the latency at all?

Reduce the latency of what when compared with what?

Overhub is a USB 2.0 hub with the useful property that if you connect a USB 1.0 device to it, doing so does not slow the entire hub down to USB 1.0 speeds. Aside from that, it’s just a hub.

Why should it? Where did you hear this?

OK thanks

I have latency issues with Overbridge and wondered if a bespoke hub would help

No, it’s just a nice USB hub. My ex girlfriend’s kid trod on mine and broke it but I forgive him

If you need a hub anyway, it’s extremely nice quality.

Edit: I have noticed that on my elderly Mac that CPU use was less than with a standard hub, YMMV :man_shrugging:

I am going straight in via 2 separate USB ports on the studio computer atm. Just wondered if a the OH would help. After 2 days of plugging away at it, it seems that…it just doesn’t work!

Why? It is a normal usb hub

Oora (Federico Chiesa) uses OB with the AR and stays tightly in sync, so it works.

Yeah the sync is kind of OK, it seems start fast and then slow down to the right tempo. I noticed a few other posts stating the same thing. This is an issue but the post is about the latency issue. So if I want to re-track some drums from the DT or the AR what gets recorded into the computer doesn’t line up with what’s already been recorded. And given that we are sensitive to the sub 15ms time range as “feel” it renders the app pretty useless. Yeah we can move the wave forms around but that never really gets to the spot and is an obstruction to creative flow. The best I’ve been able to set up is to run the sync from an ERM multiclock that takes a strip from the DAW and just use Overbridge to capture audio, this way there is at least decently low latency. It’s very tiresome.
