I’ve had stuck buttons, never experienced the encoder issue but I see what digimatt is talking about, looks like it’s popped up in the bug reports, this is definitely also a possibility if there is no indication of physical contact with the faceplate.
if it sounds like that description, this may even be more likely I would guess.
