DnBnJungle Battle #10: Dub Du Monde

Yeah the last point.

Although a Google search told me some people raised money for the band so they got some compensation for being plundered over the decades.

There was a gofundme set up for them which raised £24,000 which in the grand scheme of things is fuck all. But it all went to the lead singer and by the looks of it was never shared with the drummers famiy.

i’m sad to say, but when i talked to Richard this morning, and told him i have been in contact with the Coleman family, and asked him if he intended to share with them, he told me “I do not intend to participate in discussions about this project with every body showing up with their hands out”

“Amen Brother” by the Winston’s is an interpolation of Cannonball Adderley’s “Mercy Mercy” and Archie Bell and the Drell’s "“Tighten Up”

Both came out way before. If your into chitln circuit 1960s bangers like me, The Winston’s were doing the same thing as everyone else. The fast tempo was a texas/memphis thing. Check out King Curtis from Stax, “Memphis Souls Stew” was the first popular song to kind give a solo to each member, when you have Bernard Purdie as your drummer, this is a good idea. James Brown even giving “the drummer some” was a big deal since he was better than any drummer in his band until Clyde Stubblefield came along…

Sorry junglist’s but you didn’t discover these breaks lol

Last week to get in your beats!

We’re down to 4 teams in the Coupe, and getting down to the wire for our World Dubs ! So far we’ve gotten in 6 killer tracks, but it would be great to have even more.

As a reminder, the deadline is a week from tonight—Sunday, July 19th!

I got about half way through a track and then decided I wasn’t into it so unless I have a sudden burst of productivity I may sit this one out.

Keep pushing through, you can do it! Don’t be like England!

A decent 4 bar loop and poor tactical decision making is my production style though!

Play it until halfway and then reverse it!

So I had another go and decided I really hated my track, but took your advice on pushing through and started something new with completely different countries.

I like this one a lot better, but I’ll probably really struggle to get it done on time given I only started it a couple of hours ago.

I might have to ask for an extension if I can’t get it done.

Well through some strange miracle I’ve finished (Even though it’s quite short) it so I’ll send it over later.

I think it’s going to be A quite odd and B really obvious which one my track is.

Hi folks, a quick programming/technical difficulties note here.

The windstorms this week knocked out my home internet so I’ll be stuck in the low-baud days of the 1990s through the weekend. That means I’m going to have to delay uploading the playlist until Verizon can run a new cable to my house. (They’re saying Monday morning.)

I’d use my phone as a hotspot, but since it’s almost the end of the month I don’t think I can upload the wavs without incurring a big old data charge.

In the meantime, though, that gives anyone who still wants to participate an extra few days.

It also means NOW is the time to send me your suggestions for ideas for the next battles. I’m all ears!

No worries, looking forward to the playlist when it arrives.
