Thanks a lot!
Fixed the buttons on my DT easily!
Worked perfect thank you!!!
Reply from the future: Thanks for this! I was bummed to realize my buttons were sticky after I received my DTII back from repairs (OLED screen issue). I think the repairshop misaligned it slightly. I found this thread and realized my buttons were touching the left and bottom edge of the holes and that was the reason they were sticky. I was able to fix this in 5 minutes thanks to your instructions!
I have the exact same problem as brooch. After getting it back for the screen repair, and kudos to Elektron for getting back within a week, but I now have some sticky buttons and there are spots on the inside cover of the display cover.
If you remove the faceplate and then separate it from the upper PCB by removing the post screws inside, you can access and clean the inside of the screen bezel (display cover) but Iāll warn you about 2 things:
First is that the inside of the display cover is easy to make worse before you make it better. From behind, the outer ring where it meets the metal has some sticky adhesive exposed, thatās what holds it to the metal face panel and itās very easy to get bits of dust, fluff or paper stuck to it and much more difficult to get it unstuck so start with some compressed air and then if you have to wipe it down use something microfiber or a rag specifically for cleaning eyeglasses that doesnāt leave streaks or dust behind, try not to let it touch the adhesive around the edge.
The second warning is that it is EVEN EASIER to get dust on the exposed OLED screen itself than it is on the plastic display cover, when I open one up, I blow a little canned air on it to make sure that thereās no debris and then immediately put some blue painters tape over it pulled VERY TIGHT so it doesnāt dip down (there is a metal edge of the screen that sits higher than the OLED panel so thereās nothing sticky left behind. Cleaning an OLED screen is RISKY, they are very easy to scratch, crack, break, or to collect dust and make ugly.
It kinda sucks, but sometimes if you canāt see the spots when itās powered on, itās better to just leave it alone and pretend it isnāt there. Even if you have to open it up to re-align the PCB, sometimes itās better to leave the screen alone unless youāre 100% committed to doing something tedious. Aligning the PCB is easy and the post screws inside only need to be loosened, not fully removed.
Thanks, and if it was just dust I could probably be ok with it. Unfortunately it looks like a spot of liquid. Very small, but still like got on it and dried. There are two of them, one very small and one not so small. It has the look where something dried and left a ring. I mistakes happen, but kind of disappointing to spend $1K to have a faulty screen (again stuff happens and the repair was quick) but to have it sent back and nobody bothered to check if it was actually clean and working properly⦠Love Elektron gear, but this kind of sucks. In the attached photo you can see the circle, that is on the inside of the case.
Does anyone here knows the size and dimentions of the DT tracks buttons??? Thanks for any help.
Hello,
Iāve got the same problem on several buttons on my Digitone 2 which is quite new.
Iāve seen that this was also a misalignment issue.
Iāve followed the instructions and now all buttons work perfectly.
Thanks a lot !!!
Same problem with several buttons of new DN2 and DT2. Iāve had this problem with new Octatrack and Cycles in past. Super annoying.
Have you tried the instructions ?
Hi there. OP here. I am happy, that my DIY-fix is still of help for you guys. But is it not a little sad, that elektron is unable to deliver those new devices without those misaligned buttons?
Not yet but I will. Just came here to vent that this has been an ongoing issue for years!
Sad, indeed.
This was so annoying.
Finding your post was like a little miracle !
Iāve made a post on the Digitone section to let other people know about your instructions.
