Distorted sound with Bose QuietComfort 25 headphones

Hi everyone !

I just bought a Digitakt, and so far I’m really pleased with it. However, I’m having a problem when using it with my headphones, which are Bose QC25. Those are active noise-cancelling headphones.
So basically the sound is really distorted and the level is low, unless I change the pan a bit and “uncenter” it, then the sound becomes clear again. This happens with and without activating the noise cancelling on my headphones.
Does anyone have this problem also, and maybe has a solution ?

Thanks

So I assume that you’re using the headphone output of your Digitakt. Seems like there’s some issue with the connectors of the headphones. Your pair has four connection pins - left, right, microphone and ground - whereas the Digitakt probably expects three pins - left, right and ground.
I’ve come across something similar twice, try to carefully wiggle the connector around and maybe at some position before it clicks into place you can find a spot where the signal should flow properly.

There are some adapters that should properly rewire the 4-pin connector to a 3-pin connector, at the cost of losing the microphone function of your headphones.

Haven’t thought about the 4th pin that could indeed be the cause, thanks !
I’m gonna try out the solutions you proposed and let you know if it did the trick.

Your headphones have a TRRS connector (mic ring included). This is causing the outputs to bridge on the jack in your Digitakt. There are affordable adapters which will rectify your issue (TRRS Y Adapter).

Hi there, I’m having the exact same problem. Can someone post a link to an adapter that’s working? I tried the Røde SC-3 but it’s not working (no sound at all).
