Hey guys just got my digitone last week, had the digitakt for about a year, just wondering what people do for workflow on the digitone? With the digitakt I make up sample packs and other than that I have a good idea where the sounds I want are located on my drive…
With the digitone , would you say it’s probably best to load a kit in before hand or do you guys just get really good at making patches from the sine wave?
These 2 are my main music making devices. I’ve had lots of other things, but sold everything except these 2 in an effort to focus more and actually make more songs. I love the Digitone. I honestly could just use this stand alone, but chopping samples is very cool.
I typically write all drums on DT2 and add textures but vary rarely write melodic parts with the DT. all synth parts on the DN2.
It helps me to concentrate if I separate them. I do sometimes sample whole patterns from DN into DT and mangle them to layer over the Digitone. But usually less is more.
I started with presets but now I’m enjoying learning the synthesis and making my own patches.
This jam I made shows it pretty well, all synth patches are created from blank tracks and all percussion is written on the DT.
I usually make a bunch of patterns and then take a while arranging in Song mode in the Digitakt (this is the master clock and sends pattern change to DN)
I’ve only just started to mess with song mode. If I was making more techno/electro stuff then I’d use muted/fills a lot more.
