I’ve struggled for a while to find the right way to record my DN into Live. It should work fine with any other Elektron device I guess. I’ve built an ALS file that seems to work as intended :
- I can use my DN through OB, as an additional audio interface
- I can record separate audio channels
- I can record and playback separate MIDI channels, which was a pain to figure out (but maybe I’m dumb)
Though I used an unorthodox method, which is not documented in the OB manual : - I’m using the VST plugin, not the AU version
- I had to tick the DN MIDI In and Out in the pref panel (in order to get my MIDI channels, the manual says to disable those options when using OB)
- on the DN, I had to set the Output Ch on Trk Ch mode (Settings > Midi Config > Port Config > Output Ch > Trk Ch)
So far it works without issue, but feel free to comment this approach and share a simpler one. I don’t know if I missed something in the manual or if there’s a bug inside Live 11, but I thinks it’s pretty complicated to record both audio (quite easy) and MIDI under Live. It’s easier under Logic, for som reason.
