Digitone noob - syncing with Digitakt with no MIDI cable?

I’ve been using the Digitakt for a while, and have decided to add a Digitone. Currently both are plugged in to my computer through USB, and sound works via Overbridge plugins. Clock sync is also on in OB, with Ableton as the master.

The only issue is I can’t get the Digitone to play when I hit start on the Digitakt, unless I run a MIDI cable from DT>DN and turn on transport send/receive. Shouldn’t there be a way to do this without a MIDI cable though? I figured if I turned on “clock + transport” in both the OB app’s sync settings I could make it happen using Overbridge, but no luck. Is there something I’m missing? All other boxes in the “sync” menus are turned off.

have you made sure transport receive is checked in the digitone settings, and that overbridge has been selected etc? they seem fairly obvious but sometimes easy to overlook. basically if your digitakt is working as you expect it to be, check that your digitone settings mirror the digitakt ones, and then go from there.
