Digitone II Screen Issue

it would be interesting to know the percentage.

given the prevalence, it would be nice if Elektron commented on it imo. what causes it, what they’re doing to prevent it, why it hasn’t been fixed etc.

I own DTII, DNII and a +FX, touch wood the screens last, they have so far, but it would give me some confidence to hear from them.

I feel for those it has happened to as these boxes aren’t cheap.

I have a smudge or crack on the internal side of my screen and it drives me crazy. I should send it back to Sweetwater but I can’t imagine being without my precious. Am I fucking Gollum now?

You got a picture of the scratch or whatever it is that you’re seeing? Is it possible that it’s a little hair or something like a fibrous piece just static clinging to the inside of the acrylic glass? Did you notice it immediately after unboxing?

The gap around the trig buttons is just wide enough to sometimes get stuff magically appearing inside the machine, I’ve been able to loosen the faceplate without completely removing to spray some compressed air into the machine with the little red straw extension. If you suspect that it’s a piece of lint as opposed to an abrasion, you could try that before you go through the hassle of returning it.

Apparently, complaining fixed whatever it was. Read your comment, went to snap a pic and poof…gone. It seemed like a crack, hair or smudge just above the inside bottom right corner. Very noticeable. Kinda spooky that it’s gone without a trace but I definitely won’t miss it.

Wondering when it disappeared. Not so sure now. I know it was there 2 weeks ago on my flight to LA because I let the guy next to me test it out and he asked what it was.

Sometimes you can only see that stuff in a certain light or at a certain angle, rarely with the screen powered on, it’s almost always when your machine is powered down. If you see it again, try and catch a quick pic of it, but in the event it’s just some detritus or whatever and not a scratch, I’d see if you have a can of air duster in the back of the closet.

Hopefully whatever it is disappeared for good though.

Checking here, if you screen issues started like this. I only have a faint line when I’m note edit. Does anyone else have this?

Nothing wrong at all as far as i can see - the issue doesn’t ‘start’ (and progress) it just ‘is’ (and maybe some times isn’t)

so that is completely normal

there’s some evidence of screen refresh and pixel gathering periodicity from the phone manifesting as brighter diagonals in the image but the position of those would change with every photograph - those are not relevant

the dimming adjacent to a heavy horizontal block is how these screen render - completely normal

Thanks a lot.
