With any production you have (or should have!) very high levels of testing for the beginning of a run. After production has become more regular and the production quality is confirmed to be regular, then you can start to drop back on how much testing you do.
For all this, the CEM should be keeping data on how many units they are testing, and the results of each test. They can then use that to see where issues are and how serious they are, so that they can fine-tune the production.
I received my replacement today and it has the same problem. My mood is at rock bottom right now and I think Iām going to have another anxiety crisis.
I contacted Alto Music about a replacement and they were very gracious, offered a new unit or a full refund. They also extended the 30 day return policy for me due to the LA fires.
When I use headphones: there is still something audible on my device with the volume all the way down, although very littleā¦Is it ok? How do other users have it?
Itās up to you whether that is ok or not. Bear in mind I think it will be the same for the main outs as well as the headphones.
Ideally when the volume is down, there should be no noise at all. I donāt know exactly what causes the issue (bad volume pot, or bad soldering), but I would personally be worried about it getting worse down the line, when the unit is potentially out of warranty.
Mine was far worse (right side never reduced below 80%), so was a much easier decision for me.
Do you now have a unit where thereās no sound at volume 0?
I was under the impression that a bit of sound at 0 is a fact of life even for fully functional units.
I got a new unit from the supplier, just checked it and there is a tiny bit of bleed (more in the left than the right) when volume is at minimum and the output compressor is cranked. Barely noticeable though.
I just compared it to my old DT1 and that is actually the same (except in the right side instead).
I doubt Iād have ever noticed if it werenāt for this (I didnāt on my DT and Iāve had that nearly four years).
I thought I had this issue until I created a new blank pattern with no effects. Not sure which but I guess thereās an effect(s) that canāt be muted by volume knob.
Indeed, when I return to tracks that I can still hear with volume at 0, engaging mute silences them.
Just adding here another instance of this issue, in case anyone at Elektron is monitoring the frequency of these issues.
In addition to the stereo image issue, Iām having issues where, on some projects, different tracks are affected by the master volume differently. So, track 1 will be amplified, as you would expect, but tracks 2-16 will be attenuated as the master volume is increased past about 2 oāclock.
Iām having a similar issue with my DT2. Right headphone channel is always on, independent of the volume pot. This only occurred after several hours of usage, so I am not sure if I should get a replacement unit now or wait until there is a new batch with the issue permanently fixedā¦
I just got the go ahead from Alto to send my unit back, either for replacement or exchange. Iām willing to wait for a bit to see if this issue is resolved before diving back in.
That said, Iāll definitely be back, the Digitone 2 rules, even with unbalanced output.
Is there a DIY fix for this issue? Does Elektron Support say any other than send it back?
2024/W51 with the main volume pot issue here.
I donāt mind replacing the pot myself instead of logistics.
Back to Thomann, back to Poland, pot replacement in the factory, back to the store again as refurbished unit and selling again - the process is costly and neither good for Elektron nor for the planet.
I just received a unit and noticed that I can hear a tiny bit of audio through the headphone output even though the master volume is at 0. I tried creating a new blank pattern and still hear the very faint audio when at 0 volume. And itās from 2025/W03.
I also have this issue. Although not noticeable during normal use, is this only fixable by returning it?
Also, the main outs seems to be low volume as ill have to turn up the main volume to get an equivalent volume to my digitakt 2. And the machines have inconsistent volume too.
Do they even test these devices before selling them??
We will never get an official information or acknowledgment about this quality issue, I am sure.
Which batch are affected? How much is the failure rate? How to repair? They are all confidential information and protected by company policies and lawyers.
Early adopters are treated badly.
