I have a brand new Digitone II freshly opened today. I tried to listen to some of the presets and I encountered what I believe to be a hardware issue regarding the headphone audio output.
The master volume is set to 0 (Zero) yet I have moderately loud audio coming through the right channel. If I increase the volume of the master volume to between 80-100% I get a stereo image. This surely cannot be right, can it? The only way to listen is to reduce the levels of each track to around 25 so not to blow my headphones or my ear drums!
I have tested the audio with 2 different sets of headphones, and 2 different tip/ring/sleeve adapters, all of which work without issue on my other non-Elektron hardware.
Am I missing something here regarding the set up of the unit before I send it back to be replaced?
Seems like a hardware issue. Before you send a ticket to Elektron (or return the unit), I would suggest updating the firmware. Maybe that will resolve the issue.
Did you solve this? Mine is currently doing the same.
Seemed to work correctly for a second when I used a different cable, but now is doing the same thing even with that cable. I thought it could be related to some four pints headphones (built in mic), but it seems to do it with normal headphones too.
I just got a new Digitone 2 and have this headphone out issue as well. Just adding this in case someone is experiencing this additional wrinkle: Mine also seems to output the right channel at full volume out of the main outs regardless of the master volume knob position.
Yeah it sucks. Elektron told me to return it. Took it back today for a refund so now just need to wait for them to come back in stock May I ask if your unit was made in Poland? Could just be a bad batch. I just pray that my 3rd unit will be without issues.
Mine have the same problem. Elektron told me to contact Thomann for a replacement.
I also hope the next would be the good one. I bought one in November, Thomann send me a B-stock, so I asked for a replacement. Almost 4 weeks later I received the new one, mid December, but now returning it, and it will be 3/4 weeks more of waiting, againā¦ yeah, I know, worsts things in life, but ā¦
Yeah it was. My understanding was that there are more production centres after reading some comments either here or elsewhere online. Not knocking Polish quality, just thought it might be an isolated batch from somewhere.
No worries mate, didnāt take it as such :). I just genuinely think (thought?) that Elektron only assembles these boxes in Poland. Apologies if Iām mistaken!
Same issue over here! I just bought my new Digitone II from Sweetwater in USA (I live in South America)
First thing i noticed when i turn it on was the āpanning to the rightā thing. The Only way to get the stereo image fine is to turn the volume all the way up! At least in my unit.
And itās not only the headphone output bur the main output as well!
It f*cking sucks if you ask me because now i have to find someone who flies to USA to return my unit or pay an airplane ticket myself.
Also noticed some other issues when receiving MIDI from my AR MKII.
Elektron needs a better quality control! For those of us who live in South America is very expensive and difficult to get their units or any other gear.
This is not good for their reputation. Now iām afraid of buying their future units
Mine was batch 2024-W49, so itās not limited to the batch.
Iāve been waiting for my replacement unit since tuesday, but DHL keep cancelling and moving to the next day. Also not hopeful that the replacement is going to work if there are this many failures.
