KIT Morphing

In PRESET/KIT window add MORPH below MANAGE in the kit section.

  • By selecting MORPH a list of Kits appear(identical to the LOAD section)
  • Choose a kit
  • A new window popups:
    [0%]
    [Apply][Save as kit]
  • Turn Knob E or Level/Data to morph between the current kit and the one selected.
  • You could save the current kit at whatever the percentage of morphing it is set
by selecting [Apply] (default selection) and pressing YES.
  • The kit would be a mix of the 2 originally selected kits (but not saved in the +Drive at this stage).
  • If you press NO before apply, you return back to the kit list with the original kit playing.
  • Apply then press NO would bring you back to the kit list with the currently created kit playing (so you could morph several kits in a row).
  • [Save as kit] would be a shortcut to save the newly created kit directly to the +Drive.

It should morph between indexes of the sound engines “boxes” when available or just between the tracks sharing the same engines.
Master fx settings would also morph but MIDI settings,Control all settings,Patterns transpose settings,Track layering settings would be excluded from the morphing (the original kit settings would be preserved).

It seems there’s a small lag when you switch kits on the fly (might just be the presets catching up with the seq) so I don’t know if it’s possible but that would be a lot of fun!

When holding Track button you’re doing Control All and if you are excluding a track from Control All in the config - naturally, logically it should be excluded. Otherwise don’t exclude it in config.
If many of your track’s machines are FM Tone and you want to change the HARM parameter with Control All and some of your tracks are Wavetone, it sounds horrible since you’re changing the pitch parameter on that track.

What would make sense was if machines were linked (as an option) so you would only do Control All on all machines of the same type.

Microtonal scales/user scale import

Such a sonically plastic and deep instrument should not be constrained to 12-tone equal temperament.

Somebody get Aphex Twin to call up Elektron for a wee chat about this: perhaps they would listen to someone like him.

Longer/Full length trig preview, like on the Digitone 1.

It’s really too short on DN II

  • Holding Func changes arp Speed and N.LEN accordingly.

  • Holding Func changes AMP decay and release with same offset.

+1 - It’s almost too short, as if it was a bug. I hope / believe it’s not implemented as it’s meant to be

Trig preview also doesn’t really work well for multiple notes with microtiming, if it’s say a mono track with 3 notes in the trig one after the other, it seems to play one of them randomly.

Ability to route the noise post-filter on the FM Drum machine would be nice.

That would break the signal flow of synth machine > filter machine

You can achieve it now by using layering to put the noise on a different track without filter

I don`t own a Digitone II (yet). But it seems a shimmer/grain delay or the option to modulate delay time like we have on the Syntakt would be pretty awesome. Or is there already a workaround for that on the DN II? Or is there the option to live record delay time changes?

You can use midi loopback to modulate CCs such as delay time etc

Personalize option to disable external midi transpose

If the pattern is transposed say from C to D and you’re playing via an external keyboard in D since that’s what you’re hearing it will be further transposed to E, which is confusing. It would be nice to be able to disable external midi from following the transpose.

Move between Preset banks

Currently there’s no quick way to nice move to a specific or even next/prev preset bank that I can find.

You have to press left, move to SEL BANK, hit yes, then choose, press no twice just to choose a bank. I suggest func+left/right to move instantly between banks when on the load preset page. Currently has no other function. Could also hold the ?preset? button (perform) and press 9-16 to choose a bank directly.

Update: seems to can use FUNC+PTN+Trig to choose preset bank, though this feels pretty awkward I think

Update: you can also click the encoders to choose a preset bank, much quicker!

Please make this happen Richard

yeah, i just sat down with it again and found that its the same for internal synth sequences

this is a big problem for me because i do all of my sequencing via live recording from the launchpad pro. im constantly having the beginning of my previously entered bars erased, even if i didnt intend to overwrite them. im still in the habit of “temp saving” before hitting record over old data, but even then i have to decide if i want to keep the previously recorded notes or the new ones if i happen to enter something i like before something old gets overwritten

I would really like this to be changed to overdub until the max note count is used, then use 1st note priority for overwriting the old content, if that’s even possible

I also noticed that the functionality on the original Digitone for tracks was nice because with dedicated individual track buttons, you could double tap T1 through T4 and it would open the preset sound browser to the currently loaded sound per track. here, i dont think that such a function exists, does it? I hope im wrong about that but the only shortcut i see for preset browsing is FUNC + Level/Data, which does not jump to current loaded preset per track

No it’s not available but I wish it was. TRK + trig trig [1-16] could replicate that behavior, that wouldn’t be so bad compared to dedicated track buttons.

DN II KEYS

I’d like to have a DN II KEYS with at least 49 keys, polyphonic after touch, MPE support and LEDs on every key to indicate relevant notes in scales or chords etc. I could also think of a kind of extension unit to achieve this. There you could install your regular DN II and fix it with the VESA mount. So you can decide later, to upgrade for a little extra amount.

Func turn for p-locks

Normally holding func and turning an encoder snaps it to specific values, but this doesn’t occur when holding a trig for making plocks.

Live clear locks

While in live record mode hold down an encoder to remove locks on that parameter for all trigs passed on this track

Wavetone FM Mod

Wavetone mod is a lot of fun, but it would be great if we could also do FM between the two oscillators for extra gnarly sounds. Wavetable FM is very fun (especially if we get more wavetables).

USB Output volume reduction

Currently the USB output volume is super hot when recording into an Android device (which unfortunately have no input volume control) so recording videos with audio directly via USB audio is a lot more pain that it should be, it requires editing every pattern to turn down the pattern volume very low so that it doesn’t clip. It would be great if we can just turn down the USB volume output via the settings, I believe you can currently turn it up but not down.

I’d be ok with track + trig trig

Agreed with FM mod for wavetone, with the powerful FM 4op engine, it would be amazing to be able to use it as a low frequency modulator!

Maybe by adding a new machine that would be a copy of the FM engine but in low frequency and going into another track instead of the mixer? With 16 tracks it wouldn’t be an issue, and with the sequencer dedicated to this FM Mod track, it would become a motion sequencer!
the only question would be the routing: is it able to do that from the hardware design?
