Recently became an Elektronaut with my first Elektron devices, a Syntakt and a Digitone II.
Absolutely pleased with them! I’m just a hobbyist with basically no experience in this field, so far I’m just exploring and having fun.
A question though: when I power up the Digitone II and played the demos, I notice that Queenkong and WX3 give me some slight pops/crackles on playback. This only seems to happen with these particular patterns, the rest is just fine. After I messed around a bit, playing other patterns and fiddling with a few machines, I went back to the mentioned patterns. Now the playback seems clean.
Anyone noticed the same? As the other patterns play just fine from the beginning (tested all of them), it doesn’t seem to be a hardware defect. Maybe some initial setting in the software that gets ‘reset’ after fiddling with other stuff?
Already speaking to support about this, but I’m interested in your thoughts.
Seems the Digitone is just fine. I had used a cable from the headphone out to my amplifier, as I hadn’t had the time to buy missing cables. Updated to 1.00A, I tried my headphone this time, no crackle. Dug up a TRS cable, connected the OUT-L to the Minifuse, no crackle. OUT-R, no crackle. Either the 1.00A update has fixed something, or the cable to the amp is the culprit, but I’m happy the Digitone is fine and healthy.
Got my DN2 4 days ago – using audio out L and R into my audio interface. Some of the stock patterns can be a little hot and you might want to turn the main volume on DN2 down a bit and/or turn down your input gain.
I also heard a crackle on a couple patterns, but in my case I was so occupied with playing with my new DN2 that I… had stopped looking at my interface’s input gain. I didnt see the red on the meter because my face was in Digitone.
I had to turn down my input gain a tad/turn down DN2’s output a tad. You may have had a cable issue also, but I definitely noticed some mild clipping going on.
