I’ve had most of the Elektron boxes. I think the SidStation and the Model:Samples are the only ones I haven’t played.
The DNII is pretty mind-boggling in how good it is.
The sequencing and modulation has reached a point where not a lot is missing, and while FM is FM, the difficulty is offset by another machines - you can always fall back to a very simple synthesis method. There’s a lot of effecting power, and you have a fully featured compressor with (finally) a workable sidechain.
It’s pretty complex, but if you’re deep into the Elektron workflow, it’s very quick to pick up on.
I’ve just recently got it, but initial impressions are very strong indeed. Darn.
