Digitone+Digitakt VESA Spacing

I’m modifying an Analog Case so that I can use the Digi-Pair together in one case with cables plugged in, etc. So far so good on the foam. However, to make sure they don’t do any micro-scraping together I would like to mount them both on a piece of milled aluminum using the VESA mounting holes.

I was wondering if anyone had the hole spacing for the duo. The VESA hole spacings are easy enough, but I’d like the hole spacing for them side by side. I could measure it myself, but I was hoping for something more accurate from someone that’s already done it.

I’m planning to mount these, and then add my Bluebox into one section as well. I haven’t decided whether I’m going all out with power inlets and such, or just leaving that in one section of the case freely movable.

Maybe @Ess ?

I put a small piece of thin felt between the two. No scraping.

The holes are 58mm from the sides of the box and 39mm from the top, and 36mm from the bottom.

Thank you!!! I assume center of hole not edge?

Thanks everyone! I appreciate the input!

I was going to extend all the IO out to one side of the case, but then I figured I’ll want to re-patch things (especially MIDI and audio inputs) so I’m just going to do two barrel connectors that the power supplies can plug into that connect internally to the Digis I think.

The Bluebox is a bit tight in there, so I may try embedding it in the foam in the lid. However, I may also want to put removable hinges on, so not sure how that’s going to work.

I do still have my single-Digi Analog case, so maybe the Bluebox can go in that. (Though one central one would be better.

I’m just hoping to get it where I can bring the case into any room, or even on a trip, and not have to worry about anything or having to swap witch device is in my hands and which is sitting on a table with wires all over the place

Here’s an FPD file for Front Panel Express.

It’s VERY simple, just 2.5mm thick anodized aluminum, VESA holes, and I made it so that it fits between the rubber feet.

If you simply want to tie the two together, this will be about as solid as it gets (short of going to 3mm or something)

If one wanted to use this to mount into some other rack or case, simply extend the edges out further, create some larger mounting holes, and you’re set.

(Front Panel Designer is free.) This panel ended up being $47. One could save money by not anodizing, but I didn’t want the aluminum to oxidize under the Digis.

If you want one just like this, you can just upload this drawing file to their web shop, and buy it.

I’ve given up all my cad files and such, can’t help! But if you ask Elektron support I’m sure they can give you an answer.

(But I mean, if you have a caliper it should be no big deal to measure, probably is even a bit easier to do it on actual units since you’ll get the measurements with steel thickness and all, plus the case could vary a bit … Some plus/minus clearance is most likely needed - but I’m sure you know that)

I actually ordered a nice caliper last night. I’ve needed one for… …decades…

Well, we’ll see how the one I ordered works out. If it’s nice, I’ll make a fancier one.

I have a Fraction Industries double Digi stand that is predrilled if you want it.

Thanks for the offer! I already ordered the one I laid out this morning, so I’ll see how that goes. Very much appreciated!

If it fits correctly, I may think about doing some other related items.

Yep

The bracket turned out perfectly.

2.5mm thick, sits perfectly between the rubber feet, and completely solid.

Here’s the first version. I haven’t built the power extensions yet, that will allow the power supplies to be plugged in outside of the case yet. It’s also connected as simplistically as it can be right now. Audio out of the DN into the inputs of the DT, and MIDI from DT to DN. That’s typically how I’d use this pair anyway. I’m still not sure if I’ll be able to make the Bluebox fit into this case. For now, it sits nicely at an angle in the back should I want to record something.

I have a single-Digi Analog case that I can keep the Bluebox setup in anyway if it doesn’t end up fitting in here.

I cut a single slot into the foam directly along the edge-line of the back of the devices, and used right-angle audio cables. The cables are inside the slot of the foam, so are completely invisible.

I left the MIDI and output-to-Bluebox cables out, as they’ll need to be reconnected more often depending on what I’m doing.

Can the lids come off those cases, or is it permanently standing up when open?

They come permanent, but I’m looking at removable lid hinges for it. I think they’re more intended for transport, and less for travel+use. They seem to be an excellent base for modification though.

I just ordered some removable-lid hinges that should fit nicely. I’ll post back with the part number etc. if they work out.
