Digitech Studio Quad

Hey guys

Just bought a studio quad today got it fairly cheap.

I read somewhere that the studio quad was the poor mans Dp4, so i went for it and also found out that it is easy and cheap to upgrade it to the V2.

Any users here at the forum ?

I read that the reverb should be a bit grainy, but the other effects should be nice. Cant wait to send some wierd hats through some heavy chains

Cheers

Have a nice weekend everybody !

I love this unit - I don’t know another fx unit so powerful with the routing.

I got it for super cheap.

What is this about cheap / easy upgrade???

There is one delay on there that is so characteristic, when its in my rig I almost use it for that one effect solely.

had one for many years. it can do some fun dirty stuff and combining simple things to make more complex sounds. fun for turning toms and other pitched rhythmic elements into things that really move around.

the phaser/delay/chorus type stuff can be pretty cool. it’s pretty gritty sounding… the converters are ‘crude’ at times. way different tone than a DP4. not even similar.

it can actually choke in a useful weird way. the overload bar in the display will light up not only if you are distorting the inputs but if the DSP is running out of steam. it does something strange when that happens and it’s almost like some kind of internal drop out. it keeps processing audio but in a weird way. used to happen to me a lot.

it has a shit ton of modifiers/LFOs to assign internally in very simple ways so that’s really cool and brings life to otherwise simple FX.

it’s worth having imo.

I’m really looking forward to go nuts with some crazy effect chains. Wuhuu.

@Jeffe
If you got the v1 you can upgrade it to a v2 using this eprom chip.

Redrum redrum

I’ve got the Studio Quad 4 and really like it. The reverbs really aren’t that impressive (but my Roland RSP-550 more than makes up for it, another great multieffects unit that sells for peanuts now), but the delays and modulation effects are quite interesting, and if nothing else there a really cool reverse effect I keep it for (Rewind This is the name, I think). Great little FX unit for what they sell for now.

Thx for sharing your experiences with the machine Accent !

Since I have a lex mpx550 for reverbs, the studio quad wont be doing the reverbs. heh

I’ve been thinking about patching out1 to in2, so the processed signal is being processed again ? Have anyone tried this one ?

I’m looking really forward to seeing the mailman tomorrow
