Digitaktos as MIDI interface

For the life of me, I can’t figure out how to use the MIDI output on the Digitakt as an output on my computer.

This surely is possible, right?

Use USB?

Yes pretty straight forward in Bitwig and Live

Yes over USB.

So to clarify:

Live/Logic -> Digitakt MIDI DIN OUT -> hardware synth MIDI DIN IN

This ain’t working.

I can send midi notes from the Digitakt only. I can’t sequence a hardware synth on my computer with the Digitakt acting like a regular USB MIDI interface

Previously on Elektronauts:

Seriously?
This is a major bummer

You can setup a MIDI track channel in the settings, and use a MIDI track to trigger synths on the MIDI OUT.
MIDI tracks react to the USB MIDI.

But do i have to record the midi data first into the sequencer? Or will it pass through whichever message comes in?

You don’t have to record it into the sequencer, but it will pass through notes only.

So, no pitch, modwheel etc.

So no cc 1 or pitch bend?

Edit: ok

Kind of bummed but whatever. Ill get a midi interface

Nope, you can send pitch bend/modwheel to the synth, but only from the Digitakt SRC page or by P-Locking the pitch/modwheel in the sequencer.

You can, however, set VAL1 on the MIDI track to CC1 and control VAL1 with CC #70.
All 8 VAL values can be controlled with CC 70 - 77.

Yes but im using a tracker on my computer for pitch bends and mod wheel messages.

This is too much yadi yada with the digitak. I’ll get a midi interface.

Thanks for your help!

That would be the easiest solution, even though it’s not free.

Glad I could help. :slightly_smiling_face:
