Digitakt vs Digitone

Hi all,

Looking at maybe jumping on board the Elektron train, Ether the Takt or Tone…

Here is my setup right now:

DAW -
PreSonus Studio One 4 Pro
Audio Hardware/Controllers -
Novation Inpulse 61, PreSonus Atom, Behringer UMC202HD
Plugins -
XLN Audio Addictive Drums 2
Native Instruments Session Guitarist: Electric Sunburst
Audio Imperia Nucleus.

With the Atom and its extensive integration with Studio One and Presence XT I am very much covered for “MPC Style” Samples/Drums. And with Addictive Drums 2 I am covered for “traditional” drums should the need arise also.

This being the case the Tone makes the most sense to buy right as I have a huge gap re: synthesizer options ?

The Tackt as cool as it may be is perhaps replicating basic functionality I already have ? (Samples/Drums) ?

Sounds like you already figured it out. I would recommend the Digitone to cover more sonic ground. Also works as a great drum machine if you ever feel like trying that out instead of pads/leads/weird FM sounds.

Is there an Elektron Discord out there ?

Not that I am aware of no.

Sampler vs Synth?

Pretty much, yes.

Sounds like the Digitone will give you more mileage in your current setup. It’s an extremely versatile unit and can do many things very well (textures, fx, drums, pads, arps, etc…) 8 voice poly with 4 tracks, on board fx, and parameter locks. It’s my swiss army knife and the centerpiece to my entire studio for controlling other gear through midi.
