New on the forum and new to the digitakt which I recently bought.
I really enjoy the DT but there is a question I can’t find an answer to. The question is the following:
Is there any way to load audio samples into the midi tracks, or are they entirely meant for use of external instruments? I don’t got much gear (drum machines, synths etc.) and really want to find a way to use the 8 midi tracks without having to buy lots of equipment.
P.S. : I’ve seen the “Elektron Digitakt : MIDI Track as a CTL-AL Machine”-video which shows a way of using the midi tracks without ext. instruments. But feels more like thats a way of modifying a beat rather than to add new samples/sounds to it.
There are many high quality and free apps for phones/ipads and vst plugins for daw software you could use as external instruments - you would just need a midi-usb interface adapter that fit your chosen medium.
Have a google for ‘best free vsts’ or ‘best iOS/Android music apps’
I was sequencing the Moog Model D app with the Digitakt sequencer. Setting all the channels from Digitakt to the same channel in the moog app and then muting/unmuting midi channels has been really cool. Routing the iPad audio through the digitone for its fx has also been really cool. Moog model d app —> digitone = sweet combo
edit: to clarify, digitakt sequences the model D app and the iPad audio outs go to digitione. Op-1 is using the digitakt inputs. not sure why but I haven’t used the digitone midi tracks yet. i’m overloaded with midi tracks currently, and that’s a good problem to have.
There’s a new totally free synth app by AudioKits called Synth One. You can sequence that via the Digitakt as well, and it’s a great synth. (I was having trouble with it but I’ve contacted audiokits and they say it should be good-to-go…just need to get home and try again). Moog was really just ‘plug and play’
