I think I speak for everyone when I say I sincerely hope they release proper details ASAP!
sure thing, after seeing how polyend implemented performance mode on the tracker I can’t help but hope for this to come to the Deluge, it’s really a no brainer and actually polyend didn’t do it first , it was novation that kind of got it started with the launchpad iPad app…, anyway I think everybody with a grid that looks like the Deluge/monome etc… should copy it.
Look at the Octatrack again. The Polyend Tracker has several limitations you listed in your initial comment about why the Digitakt doesn’t cut it for you. There is nothing complicated with the Octatrack.

Couldn’t agree more! Especially in the Fx department, Elektron’s sound way better than the ones on the Deluge.
I also subscribe to everything @OldmanChompski said above. It really shines as an all-in-one sketchpad for writing songs, I think it’s unbeatable at that. But if you look at each feature on its own (sampling, synths, sequencing) there are always better standalone options.
This is definitely what I miss the most from my Digitakt. It’s much much harder to create randomness in the Deluge, it can be done but not to the same extent as in the Digitakt and it envolves a lot of tedious work.
Everytime I watch some Deluge videos on youtube I´m not really impressed by the sound that comes out of this machine, especially the synths.
But form factor and UI look cool and the fact it is battery-powered makes it a good travelling companion.
of course I love the boards of deluge patches, and for sketching while away from your set up I think it’s very cool.
I wish it had performance FX like the polyend tracker, launchpad iOS app, koala iOS app, and Roland mc-101…
just imagine if you could do this on the Deluge… go into performance mode at any time during the process, from patterns to song mode… and on top of that record all of your performance into the sequencer…
choose the effect at the top row of pads, and configure multitudes of variations of that effect all the way down the grid lanes… just like tracker, but recordable…
I wish this was a standard on every grid it’s so good
time for Synthstrom to focus on a new FX suite
Update: was patiently waiting to see what Polyend were bringing out… didn’t expect to see the Syntakt dropped so soon. It’s basically what I’ve wanted the DT to be for all these years – but still no arp !
And seriously, what do I have to pay Elektron to get a song mode? (Apparently the price of an Octatrack.)
Maybe when they bring out an Octatrack 3/replacement I’ll just sell everything and get that to replace the DT, plus the Syntakt, and call it a day
in actual use it’s hard to be disappointed in anything elektron does as they just don’t sink below a certain bar… and the fun factor is high and they make the kind of instruments that creative cats will be able to do something with
For sure – interesting to see the lukewarm reception of Syntakt from a lot of people. I can sympathise with people who want a new Octatrack as I’ve got to that point where I need something heavy duty, but 100% if Syntakt had been release when I first delved into electronic music I’d have been all over it. I’m still tempted – much prefer sound design to loading samples, and as I’m familiar with DT it would be so fast to learn – but the price tag vs features ratio is holding me back
yep the price stung me a bit too, and I was definitely looking out for a sampler from them but really that Is just because I have been wanting an expanded digitakt for so long, but once you get over the fact that it doesn’t sample you can get into the fact that you can sample it with all of your other samplers
, plus I like to get down when it comes to synthesis too so… anyway my motto is you can’t really be mad at something unless it sucks and the syntakt doesn’t suck
also this release only tells me that when elektron does put it’s focus back on sampling it’s gonna be a doozy so it’s nothing but wins imo
I don’t know if I agree with you, because I don’t know exactly what “doozy” means.
If it means something positive, I agree. I wish I knew they are working on a OT Mk3. But I feel they are not, unfortunately.
I think it’ll all work out in the end
I kind of love the Deluge. And I wouldn’t part with my Digitakt either.
Slightly different instruments. Depends on my mood, but I can noodle with either one.
The sequencing and the joy of adding MIDI layers on the Digitakt - chefs Kiss.
the no limit aspect to the Deluge, and the ability to keep adding polyphonic voices, get the Boards of Deluge BTW.
I wouldn’t give up either, they both are so amazing
