this may sound like a dumb question as OCTA already has scenes but was just wondering why it behaves differently
I think this hack became possible when trig preview was introduced on the Digitakt, v1.30 or 1.40 iirc.
TRIG + YES is trig preview.
I guess Octatrack doesn’t have trig preview?!?
It definitely does have trig preview.
Cool, I guess it should be possible then, or I could be wrong about it being related to trig preview which is totally possible, or maybe it’s implemented differently on Octatrack and just does not work the same as the OS’s are different.
Basically, I dunno and everything is possible
I’ve just been spending a nice evening with the OT but I have no idea what the fuck is going on in this video?

MS sends midi to DT. It plays defauft sound.
Prepare some trigs with plocks on DT.
Set Probability to 0.
If you hold a trig, all incoming notes are played with with this trig plocks.
On OT no Probability so you can try one shots, FILL…
Thanks for the explanation. I really don’t see any use case for this.
Sounds like a ‘just because we can’ to me, but hey: To each their own
Me neither on OT, having scenes.
Yep. It is a parameter on Digis, Analogs, called Chance on Models. Different from % TRig Condition, and I don’t think there is a 0% TRC.
How did you get this to work on the Octatrack?
When ever I hold a trig down it mutes track until I let go again.
Is there a setting that I’m missing somewhere?
Don’t remember. Try a trigless trig.
I tried all of the trig types but nothing seemed to work for me
oh well…
I bookmarked your message and will try to redo it back home.
Don’t hesitate to ask again.
Just curious about it.
Doesn’t seem usefull for OT anyway, considering its scenes power (up to 250 parameters locked to the 8 audio tracks).
You can change scenes in a more musical way than holding a trig for incoming notes.
interesting
So the video is about trying to recreate (approximately) octatracks scenes, on the digitakt.
The OP is asking why this doesnt work on the octatrack.
The octatrack has scenes.
Am I missing something?
Thanks man, it has uses in that if I can set a track up to behave like a synthesiser then I can use this trick to plock the waveform that I’m synthesizing whilst also making use of the scenes for other effects.
The real crux of the question is why can’t external midi trigger the envelope of a track while a trig is held down (while also making use of plocked settings).
I believe the use of the word “scenes” to describe this behaviour has lessened the perceived usability of it for the Octatrack.
