I’m probably in the minority here, but don’t find myself using Control-all as much on instruments with multiple machines. I love that I can expect the same changes to be made to every track. I think this isn’t too affected here, but something I think about and hope doesn’t change with the digitone. I rarely use control all on my syntakt or model:cycles because of the unpredictability.
It is somehow funny how offended some are, when people say, that they now don’t need a OT anymore or now have no GAS anymore for an OT and call them out for how they seem to use the device.
A device, where you need to sacrifice an enormous amount of tracks to do stuff you can do on the DT easily (like use 2 Filters, Reverb AND delay and compressor on the main bus). Oh, did I mention the pitch restrictions on the OT. (Just to name a few usecases where the OT architecture is definitively NOT helpful).
I own both, I love both, I can totally understand that people prefer one over the other. No reason to get mad when someone prefers different tool than me.
I think purge unused is built into digitakt now
Totally. I make such different sounds with each one. If I was forced to only keep one, it would be the OT, but I’d still be really sad to see the DT go. There are some things where the DT really shines in comparison to the OT… Some simple things, like having decay on the amp envelope! Or the pitching behavior you mentioned.
I think it’s hilarious to see people get all tribal about their preferred machines or software.
Not sure if this is what you would like to have in Ableton, too.
I usually go like this in the arrangement view:
- Set the loop locators to where it is needed.
- Activate Punch In and Out
- The recording will just be inbetween the loop locators.
- Without activating loop it would not overwrite the recording in the loop.
1st recording “audio 4” with punch in/out
2nd recording “dt bass…” without punch in/out.
Been quite a while, but I think it was similar in Cubase.
Not sure if this is possible without a Push in session mode, but it works quite well to capture stuff in the arrangement view from where you can drag it into the session.
Maybe this helps : )
Thank you!
I thought this, but I was convinced it was in Transfer, not on the Digitakt itself, so when I couldn’t find it in Transfer I assumed I made it up
What a clown!
Who called it OneShot when OneHitter was right there
OneTrig.
So that you could have a trigless trig triggering a OneTrig.
At least I’ve found a purge button in Loopcloud in the “RAM” folder. To be honest I had no time to look for it in Transfer.
You can find it within DT as well in the sample manager
They say if you love something let it go, and if it comes back, it’s a digitakt.
Turned it on last night after ignoring it for 2 or so years. My lord this update is the shit. I had a full on “come up for air and 4 hours have passed” session and it felt great.
I always felt like the DT DN combo was missing a slight touch of spice. Not any more.
I am usually triggered by triggered jokes but this I appreciate
After Update to 1.50. Update the latest Transfer and Overbridge. My Tranfer doesnt connect to Digitakt anymore. Overbridge Digitakt stand alone will find it but not Transfer. FCK…
Have you tried setting the usb configuration to audio/midi usb ?
That happened to me to, but I think it was more a computer related problem, what i tried to do is make backups of my projects in old transfer version. DT froze, and lost connection with the computer. So i decided to install the new transfer. same problem. All this in Windows. I decided to go to Linux and back all up with elektroid and it worked. So,i just installed the OS 1.50 there.
You can also easily transfer sysex files to the DT with ALSA MIDI in linux in a pinch:
amidi -l
Get the hardware port for the Digitakt, then:
amidi -p <hardware port> -s any_sysex_file.syx
well… os1.5 is glorious.
finally got a chance to play with it today. loaded all my drum breaks back into it and having a blast.
it was the one issue I had with it previously, I adore the DT but I’m a jungle head n always got a bit frustrated working with loops in it. ended up ditching em but always wished it was different.
its glorious. timestrech em, resample em, chop em. etc etc.
heaven

It’s good to be back isn’t it? The possibilities feel endless again.
Just made a 64 slice sample chain of Model D single cycle waveforms. It’s a ludicrously small file that packs SO much punch now we can slice and dice! 64 Model D oscillators in the DT on a single track, with the ability to play chromatically and play different oscillators per step. And the filters and LFOs. It’s a dream come true.
amazin’
that’s nuts.
digitakt went beast mode
I was just coming back here to report that using the RLEN parameter for directly multi-sampling other synths works really well. I’ve put some banks of chords in the sequencer, then recorded different patches on my Nymphes, really fun to play.
Only hiccup I’ve run into, making a chord pad bank, is that it works best to have zero attack so the record arm threshold gets crossed right on time. Then DT can provide the amp envelope and extra filtering as needed.
